π» 4th Grade - New Jersey Student Learning Assessment Adaptive Field Test π
October 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) Adaptive Field Test will be administered to all fourth-grade students at Roosevelt School on Wednesday, October 29, and Thursday, October 30, 2025. Testing will take place each morning for approximately two hours.
This Adaptive Field Test is part of the New Jersey Department of Educationβs effort to pilot new, computer-adaptive items that may be used in future NJSLA assessments. The purpose of the field test is to ensure that the questions are fair, accessible, and appropriately measure grade-level standards. While individual student scores will not be reported, participation helps improve the quality and accuracy of future statewide assessments.
To help your child do their best, please:
Ensure that your child arrives to school on time each testing day.
Encourage a good nightβs sleep and a healthy breakfast.
Remind your child to bring their fully charged Chromebook each day.
Reassure your child that this assessment is simply an opportunity to try their best and help the state improve the test for all students.
We appreciate your partnership in supporting our students as they participate in this important statewide initiative. If you have any questions about the NJSLA Adaptive Field Test, please contact your childβs teacher or the main office.
Sincerely,
Kelli Eppley
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction
π¦ Train Crossing Safety Reminder
Last week, a train was stopped at the North 13th Avenue crossing for several hours. Please remind your child(ren) that crossing the train tracks while a train is stopped is never safe or acceptable. Students will not be marked late if arrival is delayed due to a train stoppage - please just notify the main office. We ask for everyoneβs cooperation in keeping safety the top priority.
Later this fall, the district will be holding Train Safety Assemblies to reinforce these important safety lessons with all students. Thank you for helping us keep our Roosevelt Colts safe!

π©π»βπ Fire Prevention Assembly π
This week at Roosevelt School, we celebrated Fire Prevention Week with some exciting and educational activities! On Thursday, students participated in a fire drill, attended a fire prevention assembly, and had the chance to explore real fire trucks, thanks to our local firefighters. Each student went home with some fun fire safety swag to remind them of the important lessons they learned. Be sure to ask your child about the fire safety tips they discovered and continue practicing fire safety at home!
π After School Clubs
On Wednesday, students who were selected for our school clubs were notified. Congratulations to the lottery winners for the Art Club, Intramurals Club, and Music/Chorus Club! Information about club meeting dates were sent home via email to parents.
