Thanksgiving is approaching and our classroom is a family we want to celebrate by having extending family snack time! Parents are welcome to come to school and enjoy stack time with their preschooler. If it nice weather, we will have snack time outside on our patio. Welcome you to stay and do a thanksgiving craft. The whole fall family fun should take an hour. We are excited to celebrate the thanksgiving season with you!

Second Step

This week we worked on identifying feelings. Children who know how to identify emotions tend to have better social skills and be less aggressive and more accepted by peers. Children who can identify their own and other people’s feelings at age five are more likely than others to show academic gains by age nine. With this lesson children will be able to identify the feelings happy and sad when presented with physical (face or body) clue and tell about a time when they felt happy or sad. The overall concept is for children to look at people’s faces and bodies for clues to help you tell how they feel.

Small Group

Following the CT ELDS for social and emotional learning, we had fun drawing our faces for different emotions we have! The children look at themselves in the mirror and study their face. They were looking for how their eye change, if there is a smile or not, how our eyebrows move and how our cheeks on our faces moves with each emotion.

Fundations

I wanted to let parents know that the last few weeks we have started our curriculum on FUNdations. You see the word "fun" in that word because we make learning letter sounds fun! As this curriculum parallels with our CT ELDS for language and literacy, the children are loving this way to say letter sounds. A quick overview, we have Echo the owl who teaches the children the letter, key picture, and letter sound. After reviewing the cards, we have the opportunity to write the letters. In our writing center reflects what we learn in Fundations with the same paper, as we use on the smart board and tracing vocabulary words!
