A Message from the Principal

Hello Falcon Family!

Wow! School starts in 3 DAYS! We are looking forward to seeing our students and families tomorrow night at Meet the Teacher as we prepare to begin a new school year!

It was great seeing all of the families that were able to attend Popsicles with Principals! Mrs. Fay and I enjoyed meeting new students and seeing some familiar faces again!

There will be increased traffic on the first few days of school, so please give yourself a few extra minutes and don't stress about tardiness those first few days. Most importantly, we want all of our Falcons and their families to arrive safely! Please review the arrival and dismissal map below as there are changes to car line in the mornings. This year, students arriving by car MUST be dropped off at the back of the school (the birdcage). They will not be able to be dropped off at the walker entrance.

On the first day of school, here are some important times to know!

  • 7:15 am - Our doors will open and breakfast will begin being served in the cafeteria.
  • 7:30 am - Our teachers will be ready to welcome you into their classrooms at 7:30 am.

This year, campus newsletters and grade level newsletters will be sent biweekly on opposite weeks. Newsletters will be sent each Sunday at 5 PM. Be on the lookout for a grade level newsletter next Sunday at 5 PM.

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback, please reach out to me at jbovan@ldisd.net or call the school between 8 AM and 4 PM Monday through Friday. We are here to help!

Thank you,

Jessica Bovan

Beginning of the Year Q & A Beginning of the Year Q & A

  • "Can we walk our children to their classrooms on the first day?"

Absolutely! You may walk your children to their classrooms during the first day of the school year. Bring those cameras! (Don't forget that all adult visitors must enter through the front doors of the building.) Starting on Thursday, August 15th, we will start our routine of students entering school in the morning and going straight to the cafeteria for breakfast OR heading into the cafeteria (Pre-k/K/1st) or gym (2nd - 5th) to wait with their grade level to be picked up by their teachers.

  • "Can we volunteer?"

Yes! We love our volunteers! Please see the information below about completing Part 1 of the online Volunteer Form. Once you've completed the online portion of the form, please come by the front office at CE to complete the final step. Don't forget to bring your photo identification with you.

  • "Can we eat lunch with our own children at school during the day?"

Yes, we are looking forward to having our Falcon Families back on campus. Please remember that you may only eat lunch with your child(ren) and may only provide food for your child(ren). We have designated Family Lunch tables on the stage in the cafeteria for you to use when eating with your student(s).

While we are excited about having families at lunchtime, please give us two days to establish routines and procedures. We will be ready to have you join us for lunch starting on Friday, August 16.

  • "Is there a dress code for Corinth Elementary?"

Yes, there is a district elementary dress code. It is included below. I do recommend that students wear tennis shoes during recess for safety reasons.

  • "What do I do if my child is going to be absent?"

Great question! We have procedures for reporting your student's absence. Please call the school office to let us know that your child will be absent. Then, please submit an Absence Request online through your Family Access Account. It's that simple!

Meet the Teacher Night Meet the Teacher Night

Meet the Teacher Night is August 12th:

  • 6:00-7:00 pm - Families with last names beginning with N-Z

Transportation will be available to answer questions about bus routes. Car tags will be issued to families. Watch D.O.G.S will have a table to provide information about our Watch D.O.G.S. program and assisting with signing up. Alphabest will be available to answer questions and assist with sign-up.

PTA will be present to assist families with joining PTA and purchasing t-shirts and other CE swag. Every person that joins PTA will be entered into a drawing to win one of the two Stanley cups. Students can be PTA members as well, so families will have increased opportunities of winning the drawing while supporting our Campus PTA! As an additional fundraiser, there will be $5 raffle tickets to win a themed gift basket for families to enjoy together!

Students in Pre-Kindergarten and 1st - 5th grades will drop off their supplies on this night. Kindergarten students WILL NOT bring their supplies on this night. Information has been sent to Kindergarten families earlier today.

Kindergarten families, please remember you MUST stop by the Kindergarten table in the cafeteria to receive your child's color POD and name tag for the first day of school. You will also be able to tour all of our Kindergarten classrooms!

We hope to see you there!

Purchase Labels for Your Child's Items Purchase Labels for Your Child's Items

Last year, our Lost & Found was FILLED with jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, lunch boxes, and any other items that students often misplaced. We did our best to check labels and return items to students, but most of the items were not labelled. We are asking that you LABEL all of your child's jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, lunchboxes, backpacks, etc. this year. To help with this, we have found a fundraiser, Mabel's Labels, that sells LABELS! This is a great way to support our school while setting your child up to keep up with their items! There will even be labels with our CE logo! The fundraiser is on-going. You can order anytime throughout the year, but what better time than back-to-school!

If you’re not familiar with Mabel’s Labels, they are personalized, durable, waterproof labels. They are great for everything from shoes, clothing tags, waterbottles and backpacks. You can customize them with your name and a design, and they are dishwasher, laundry and microwave safe. Mabel’s Labels also offers clothing stamps, silicone bands for water bottles and medical alert labels. This is a great way to ensure your items don’t end up in the lost & found or mixed up.

To support our fundraiser, visit campaigns.mabelslabels.com and select Corinth Elementay. You can pick out whatever labels or product you want, and it will ship for free directly to your house! Thank you for supporting us!

Tips for 1st Day Jitters Tips for 1st Day Jitters

  1. Listen to your child. Some students may be nervous or could even be afraid. Assure them that this is normal. Let them know that many of the other students will feel this way also. Remind them that they are brave and that you know they can do this.

  2. Practice taking deep breaths with them: three slow, deep breaths in through their nose and out through their mouth. We want students to have tools to handle their emotions, and this is a helpful one.

  3. Please give your child a hug and tell them that you love them. Sending them off on the first day of school knowing they are loved is the best way to start off the year.
