April 2022

Happy Easter! I hope this season brings new life and joy to you and your family. Signs of spring abound here at the parish. This month, our All Saints School students helped beautify our parish garden and school Marian garden. Our quilters fabricated some precious baby quilts to support new moms in our community. And thanks to your generosity, we helped provide 80 sets of school supplies to Afghani refugees making a new start in our area. Alleluiah!

Saint Francis of Paola

Saint Francis of Paola

Saint Francis of Paola wanted to live a quiet life of solitude. He managed to do this in a cave near Paola, but soon followers began to gather. He formed them into a community which emphasized pretty severe penance and austerity. Saint Francis also had a public life assisting in the French court.

Quilts for New Mothers

Our quilters have been busy. This month they donated over a dozen baby quilts to support new mothers at New Beginnings Homes and Step by Step.

CrossWalk

Parishioners from All Saints, First Presbyterian Church of Puyallup, and Peace Lutheran gathered for the annual CrossWalk on Good Friday. Speakers at each of the locations reflected on the parable of the Good Samaritan and addressed the question, "Who is my neighbor?"

School Supplies

Thank you to all who donated school supplies and backpacks for Afghan families resettling in our area. We helped Lutheran Community Services and Peace Lutheran meet their goal of collecting 80 sets of supplies. Additional supplies will go to parents who might be taking classes at our local colleges.

Food Ministry - Volunteers Needed

Sister Myrna’s Manna is an All Saints ministry which provides meals to New Hope, Puyallup’s day shelter for folks experiencing homelessness.

Hollywood Priest: The Story of Bud Kieser

Throughout the Sixties and Seventies, Fr. Bud Kieser produced the TV show Insight that was broadcast across the country and featured the biggest names in Hollywood. He also produced the movie Romero. But Fr. Bud’s life would take a dramatic turn in 1980 after being invited on a publicity trip to the famine in Central Africa by Catholic Relief Services. What he experienced there would change his ministry forever.

You may view the virtual screening between April 20th - 27th. 40% of all sales support Catholic Relief Services! To learn more about this great Catholic film and event to support CRS, click here.

Advocacy in Action

This month, members of our CRS Chapters from Bellingham, Puyallup, Seattle, and Tacoma met with staff from the offices of Senator Cantwell and Senator Murray to advocate for more flexible and efficient implementation of international aid programs that address hunger.

We will be meeting with staffers from Rep. Marilyn Strickland's office on Wednesday, April 27 at 11 am. If you live in District 10 and would like to join this meeting as a silent observer, we need you!

For more information in becoming involved in a chapter, contact Morningstar at the parish office.
