Principal's Message
Assalamu Alaikum!
Dear NISL Families,
Alhamdulillah, Picture Day was a great success today! A special thank you to our PTO for their excellent coordination and organization which helped everything run so smoothly.
If your child was absent, there will be a Makeup Picture Day on Thursday, October 16. Please remember that October 16 is also Class Picture Day, and students must wear their school uniform for class photos.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Also, a reminder that we have our Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, September 25 and Friday, September 26! Middle and high school conferences are team conferences where the parent meets with all of their child's teachers at the same time. If you haven't signed up yet, you can still do so with this link!
No School Days & Fall Break
There will be no school for students Wednesday through Friday, September 24 to 26 for Professional Development Day and Parent-Teacher Conference Days and Monday, September 29 to Friday, October 3 for our Fall Break. School resumes on Monday, October 6.
Our School is Going Greener!
At NISL, our vision is to raise lifelong learners with strong and balanced character, who understand their purpose in life, are connected with their Creator, and who serve their Creator by serving humanity. Serving humanity includes caring for our school, our community, and the environment that Allah SWT has entrusted to us. Last year, we introduced composting and it has been going well, Alhamdulillah! This year, we are beginning a recycling program, thanks to Br. Ammar Shaikh's persistent encouragement and vision to see our school become a green school! He reminds us all that Allah SWT has entrusted the earth to us as a sacred trust and we are called to be its stewards, caring for its resources, reducing waste, and using His blessings efficiently and responsibly. This work reflects our schools' emphasis on raising student awareness of environmental education and including environmental stewardship in schoolwide practices. The Louisville Metro Public Works Public Education team will be coming to our school to hold a Recycling Kickoff Event filled with fun and interactive activities for our students!
Grades 5 to 8: Thursday, October 23
Grades KG to 4: Friday, October 24
Check out our Barakah the Bee demonstrating her recycling skills!
May Allah help us raise a generation that cares for His creation by reducing waste, reusing resources, and recycling responsibly.
Jazakum Allahu khairan for your partnership in these efforts.
Sincerely,
Aisha Blagaia
