First Week Success!

Dear Coelho Families and Students,

What a start to the year. Walking the halls these first days, the thing I keep noticing is the smiles — students finding old friends at their lockers, fifth graders figuring out the building with a little help from their dedicated teachers or other students, teachers greeting kids at the door by name. The energy in this building right now is exactly what we hoped for.

Our students came back ready. They came back curious, talkative, and eager to get going, and our staff met them with classrooms that were prepared and lessons that were ready to run from day one. That does not happen by accident, and I am grateful to everyone who made it possible — including all of you at home, who got backpacks packed and kids out the door on time.

Middle school is still a season of enormous growth, and the honeymoon of the first weeks will give way to harder days. That is normal. When it happens, please reach out early. A quick email to a is never an imposition.

Here is to keeping this momentum going.

Reminders for Families

  • Bikes and e-bikes: we have seen a lot of students riding to school this fall, including many on e-bikes. Every student riding a bike or e-bike should be wearing a helmet, and should bring a lock to keep their bike secure during the school day. Please take a minute to go over this with your child.
  • After-school activities, sports, and late buses are expected to begin in late September or early October. More information is to come as schedules are finalized.
  • School hours: classes begin at 7:50 a.m. and dismissal is at 2:20 p.m. Early release dismissal is 11:30 a.m.
  • Arriving on time matters. Students who walk in after 7:50 miss announcements and the start of first period
  • Check Aspen regularly for grades and attendance. If you need a portal password reset, please call the main office or email our clerks and they will be happy to help.
  • Supply lists for the 2026–27 school year are posted under "For Families" on the Coelho website.
  • Please make sure the office has current phone numbers and emergency contacts.
  • Report an absence by calling the main office at (508) 761-7551.

MCAS Portal MCAS Portal

Massachusetts Commissioner Martinez has announced that families can now access their child's MCAS results online. You can read the Commissioner's full letter here: https://www.doe.mass.edu/mcas/family-portal/access/.

For step-by-step directions on how to access your child's results, please visit our district website: https://www.attleboroschools.com/article/3087590

Forms and Documents that are needed for School

Forms that need to be passed back to the homeroom teachers.

  • Free/Reduced lunch forms: This is important, even though the lunch program is free this year, the amount of accurate applications that we have helps with federal funding that we receive from the government, which helps educate the students. Please make sure you fill this out, even if you think you won't qualify. Here is the link for the application. https://www.attleboroschools.com/page/food-services

· From the Nurses Office:

  • Health Services Form- sent home on first day of school

  • Medication Orders dated after July 1, 2026, if your child requires medication at school

  • 7th graders- updated immunization records. 7th Grade updated immunization records: Brought in or faxed to the school nurse.

  • Any updated medical concerns

  • Please keep in mind if your child has an allergy that requires an EpiPen/antihistamine the order must omit the administration of the antihistamine while on a field trip- only the EpiPen can be delegated on a field trip.
