Dear Wales Families,

As a reminder, there is no school this Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. Enjoy the extended weekend with your family as we honor and remember those who served.

Families enjoyed a fun family evening at Wales last Friday at our annual STEAM night! Thank you to all our volunteers for sharing their expertise with us. A special shout out to Mr. Michalek for setting up a demonstration on bird banding, Mrs. Forget for setting up our student's beautiful art work, and Mrs. Frauenhofer for creating a fun station where kids created a fun homemade top with optical illusions.

UPK parents and incoming Kindergarten parents. Your child brought home an important envelope with an included return envelope. This form is for our mandatory for us to complete the scoring of your child's Kindergarten screening. It was due back today, if you haven't sent it in, please do so ASAP.

Our Kindergarten kiddos performed for their families and staff this week and the performance did NOT disappoint. They did a great job and we love watching our students shine! Our second grade students did an amazing job at their wax museum performance this week. Student researched a famous individual of their choice, used their draft copy of the information collected to create a poster and a speech, dressed up as their famous person and performed for students, staff and family on Thursday at Wales.

News from our SRO

Please be advised that on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, beginning at approximately 1:15 PM, Iroquois High School will be conducting a Senior PROM Assembly and emergency response simulation as part of an educational safety presentation for students.

Community members may observe an increased presence of emergency personnel and vehicles in the area, including Elma & Jamison Road Fire Department apparatus and a scheduled landing by Mercy Flight on the north end of the school campus.

This is only a planned drill and educational demonstration. There is no active emergency or threat to the community.

We appreciate the continued support of our local emergency responders and thank the community for its understanding. Thank you to Wilbert’s U-Pull It of Buffalo, located on Pound Road in Elma for the generous donation of two vehicles for the demonstration.

The Problem - Attendance Works

The Problem - Attendance Works

The most recent federal data show that in the 2020-21 school year, at least 14.7 million students nationwide were chronically absent. This means that chronic absence has almost doubled from the more than 8 million students, pre-Covid-19, who were missing so many days of school that they were academically at risk. Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions—can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school. Read this research summary for more details.

Student absences

This is a reminder that when your child is absent or tardy, legally we must have a note with a reason, upon the child's return to school. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
