July Was Parks and Recreation Month!
Each July, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) celebrates Park and Recreation Month to recognize the essential role parks, recreation programs, and the dedicated professionals behind them play in building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities.
This year’s theme, “The Power Of...”, celebrates the many ways parks and recreation enrich our lives through: Connection, Play, Community, Nature, Belonging, and Well-Being.
Here in Somerville, we’re proud to see that power in action every day—whether it’s through youth sports, adaptive recreation, community events, aquatics, fitness classes, playgrounds, parks, or the countless moments that bring neighbors together. Check out what some of our staff that grew up with Somerville Recreation has to say about how recreation has changed their lives for the better!
Thank you to everyone who joined us this month and to our incredible staff, coaches, partners, vendors, and participants for making our community stronger through the power of parks and recreation.
