Join the Facilities Steering Committee

GISD in the process of forming a Facilities Steering Committee (FSC), consisting of community stakeholders, to assess the facilities within GISD. The purpose of the FSC is to gain community input while we study our campus building utilization, student enrollment projections, facility conditions, campus safety and security, equity among school facilities, grade alignment structure, and to consider financial data.

The goal of the FSC is to obtain different perspectives from the entire community and have a committee that represents the interests of all students. GISD will be calling a bond election for the May 2025 election, and we value the input of our community in the process.

The first of three meetings will be held on Tuesday, October 29 from 5 - 7pm. If you are interested in learning more about how you can be involved with the Facilities Steering Committee, please visit our website.

All-Region Choir

On Monday, October 7, three members of the GHS Choir earned places in the Texas Music Educators All-Region Choir. Their three prepared pieces included songs in English, Spanish and Latin. They will join with the rest of the selected North Texas area choir members at Dallas Baptist University for a clinic and concert November 5th.

Congratulations to: Angel Manriquez - Tenor, Liam Cotton - Tenor, and Gabryel Reed - Bass. Angel placed high enough that he will be advancing to the next round of competition, November 18th, with hopes of making the TMEA All-State Choir.

Hispanic Heritage Month Reward

Congratulations to Ms. Johnson's class! They have been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month all month long. Teachers were given a bingo card with all kinds of fun activities to do for HHM! All the teachers that got a bingo were entered into a drawing, and their class reward was to hit the pinata which was generously donated by First United Bank - Gainesville!
