PBIS at SHS
PBIS (positive behavior interventions and supports) is a system that focuses on reinforcing positive behavior by providing clear expectations to students and teaching them what those expectations look like in action. PBIS provides meaningful incentives for students when they are showing expected behavior and provides reteaching to students who may need more support in understanding how to show expected behavior throughout the building. Staff are encouraged to award students with a Spartan ticket, which they can turn in for various incentives. How can you help support our efforts? We are looking for prizes, gift cards, or experiences that will get our students excited. Any donations can be turned into the main office to the attention of Matt Amerson. We have also created this Amazon Wishlist. Another way to support is to shop the Spartan Shack online for gear we can use toward prizes. Our students love Spartan swag!
Fill out this form if you are interested in hosting a table to have an exhibit table at this district-wide event on April 9th at Superior Middle School.

Seniors
Northwood Tech Event
Northwood Tech will be hosting an event on March 6th from 10:30AM-12:30PM for undecided high school seniors! This event will provide seniors the opportunity to visit Northwood Tech, tour the program classes/labs, and receive direct assistance in the application and admissions process!
After touring the college and lab areas, seniors will be offered a "lunch and learn" opportunity, where we will go over the admissions process and enrolling in a program for Fall 2025. Many programs still have spots available for seniors to start right away! For popular programs, we will go over the waitlist process.
This event gives students a "one-stop shop" opportunity to see the campus, apply for a program, schedule their admissions meeting, and learn about scholarships/financial aid. Attendees will receive swag bags, lunch, and a chance to use our VR training goggles.
As a reminder, applications are free at Northwood Tech, so we encourage any undecided seniors to attend even if they are unsure if they want to apply yet.
Registration is required for this event. Students can register HERE

Last week, before our long weekend, Student Council and the SHS Hope Squad worked together to host a school wide day of Unity. They event started with all students and staff getting a free t-shirt because of the generosity of the local businesses shown above. Student organized so many activities to unite Spartan students and staff. Some activities included: spikeball, bingo, bracelet making, coloring, trivia basketball, volleyball, chess, and so much more! They also attended a workshop with a special speaker, Tasha Schuh, who discusses tools to be resilient for mental and emotional health. The day ended with an assembly in the gym. Ask your Spartan about it!
Food Service
During our school-wide unity day last week, Upper Lakes Foods visited through our lunches with a fresh produce presentation of exotic fruits and vegetables from around the world. Pink pineapple was a big hit with the Spartans! Our food service also served a new Chicken Ramen Bowl for free dinner that day! Remember, at SHS students can get FREE BREAKFAST and DINNER every day!! Click the link above to check the lunch menu and add funds to your student's My School Bucks account.
