Providing distance learning programs is central to our educational mission. We are currently developing TEKS-aligned lesson plans designed to enhance curriculum instruction of Texas and US history in the classroom. The National Standards will also support these virtual lesson plans. Our focus is 4th and 7th grades, but we can also tailor our program to fit other grades. Our virtual learning programs are free, fun, and inspirational for your students.

To see our scheduled programs and register go to Connect2Texas and select Pioneer Museum from the program filter. Contact dshields@pioneermuseum.org for more information.

Family Tools: What Kind of Tools Do You Use Today?

Grade: 4

This lesson is designed to engage 4th-grade students in their understanding of early European immigration to Texas by relating their personal experience of economic activity at home with the use of home-based accoutrements of the mid and late 19th Centuries. Through the virtual experience of visiting early German Pioneer homes on the museum’s campus, students will gain a greater understanding of the tasks encountered by early Texans in everyday life.
