My favorite memory of middle school was being able to walk out of the building and getting lunch with my friends.

My advice to my Middle School self would be... surround yourself with people who look out for you and want the best for you. Even when things aren't going your way always be positive and see the good.

Hello, Ten Oaks, Middle School. My name is Tony Luscavage and I am a Special Education Teacher recently hired at TOMS. I retired from Pennsylvania and moved to South Carolina almost three years ago. My wife, Jennifer and I live in Conway with our Chorkie (Chihuahua/Yorkie mix), Silvio. We have three children who are back in Pennsylvania and pursuing their own careers and personal life. I hold a master's degree in social work from Temple University in Philadelphia and am a licensed Social Worker in Pennsylvania.

I became involved in Teaching/Education, because my last career showed me the great need for early intervention with at risk individuals, especially those of school age. I hope to influence, educate and guide all my students for them to realize their dreams and ambitions. I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome and help since joining the TOMS team and am excited to take on this new adventure in my life.

Huge congratulations to the TOMS MathCounts Team for an outstanding performance this morning!

TOMS came in #1 MathCounts Team overall and we're so proud of the team's incredible achievements! Special shout-out to Leah Sela for taking 1st place in the Chapter Competition Countdown Round, and to both Leah and Cameron Schaffer for making the Top 10 overall!

A big thank you to our amazing coaches Charlcey Carswell, Macie Phillips, Angela Anderson, and Maria Faulkner for their dedication and support. We also want to express our appreciation to former coaches Sarah Leppert and Teresa LaValle for building such a strong foundation for our team and program in past years.

Last week Assistant Principal Ashley Arthur bravely took on the Ice Bucket Dump! Students donated $1 to support the Polar Plunge and had the chance to attend the Ice Dump event. The students who donated the most were given the honor of dumping the ice on Ms. Arthur!

TOMS SCA is hosting Superbowl Penny Wars Competition!

Bring your coins to support your favorite Team February 3rd - February 7th! Eagles vs Chiefs!

Put your pennies in the jar for the team you think will win~ Put other coins and bills in the container for the team you think will lose. The team with the most points will be TOMS predicted winner of this years Superbowl!!

All donations collected will go towards TOMS Field Day in May!

We’re excited to invite you to the 7th Grade Valentine’s Sneaker Ball on February 12th!

To attend, students must have a signed permission slip. Permission slips will be handed out on Monday, January 27th during Advisory.

Tickets will be available for purchase starting January 27th on MyPaymentsPlus and at school during lunch. Please note, no tickets will be sold on the day of the dance, so be sure to get yours early!

TOMS 6th Graders - Save the Date! We are looking forward to seeing you at the 6th Grade Winter Wonderland Dance on February 25th!

Ten Oaks Middle offers a variety of Clubs and Discovery classes! Our students enjoy everything from Chorus, Band and Orchestra to Drama, Science Club and Mock Trial, just to name a few!

Many Clubs will begin this month and we will share information in Advisory classrooms, Facebook and here in the newsletter. We encourage all students to get involved! Check back with us here for important upcoming dates and information.

Mrs. Shupe and Mrs. LaValle are starting a TOMS Spring Run Club for girls the first week in February. They will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4:45 pm. More details to come soon!

Chess Members meet at TOMS Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons, 3:45 - 4:45 PM. Please see Mr. Campman for more information.

We are excited to announce the first official Gaga Ball Club of TOMS for 6th grade students. The club will meet each Thursday after school for the remainder of December and run all through January. Any 6th grader who is interested in joining the club needs to sign up at school. See Mr. Frechette with questions. Members must have a passing grade for ALL core subjects.

Meeting dates: 1/30.

TOMS is excited to announce we are adding another club to our school! Jr. Beta Club!

The first meeting will be held Monday, February 10th from 3:45 - 4:45 PM in the Purple Collaboration Space. See Mrs. Brady with questions.

Rubik's Cube Club will meet on the last Wednesday of each month, starting December 18th. Next meeting will be February 18th.

TOMS Technology Club will meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month! The next meetings will be Tuesday, March 4th. We hope to see you there! Please see Mrs. Preciado or Mr. Frechette if you have any questions.

Kindness Club Meets The first Thursday of the Month!

The TOMS Kindness Club was created for our students, and will meet once a month during our morning Advisory time. The goal is to provide an opportunity for students to promote kindness in their school and communities while also increasing their leadership abilities. It also fosters an attitude of teamwork and problem-solving by working together in a respectful manner. The students will participate in several different activities during the school year that will work to foster leadership skills while promoting kindness. We look forward to seeing you in the Kindness Club!

TOMS SCIENCE CLUB meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month!

The next meeting will be March 12th from 3:45-4:45 PM. Please remember that all students must have a ride ready by 4:45 PM. Students with questions can see Mrs. Rich at TOMS.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet every Thursday in the gym at Ten Oaks, starting at 7:45 AM. All students are welcome! No sign up is required. Come and bring a friend!

One of the many features of this new dismissal process is that your children will remain comfortably and safely in their classroom until the moment they will meet you in the "car loading zone". - Starting Monday, February 3, 2025, the Athletic Shuttle Bus to Carolina Forest High School will be available for 7th and 8th grade athletes trying out for spring sports.

-Students must sign up with Coach Sandy Deaton in the TOMS Gyms this week - January 29, 30, or 31, from 8:00-8:45 am. This shuttle is for CFHS spring sport athletes only, not for after-school weightlifting at this time.
