Chariho Parent Virtual and Concurrent Learning Site

It is IMPERATIVE that families are monitoring their children for symptoms. We are still in the middle of a pandemic and we need to continue to be watchful. No one with any symptoms should be coming to school.

Last Call for SurveyWorks!

We are so VERY close. I just checked with my contact at RIDE and we have 59% participation (up 10% from last week) in SurveyWorks. We are the highest percentage in the district and possibly in the state. I need about 2 - 3 more people to complete the survey to reach our goal of getting 60% participation. If you haven't yet, please take this important survey. The survey closes on March 31.

How to Complete the Survey: Visit http://bit.ly/ridefamily (click on the link) and choose your school from the dropdown list.

Very Important: When you click on the survey link above, you will have to choose your child’s school from the dropdown menu. There will be two options for Hope Valley School. You will see Hope Valley Elementary School (Chariho) and Hope Valley Elementary School Annex (Chariho). All families of pre-school children MUST use Hope Valley School ANNEX and all families of children in grades K-4 will use Hope Valley Elementary School. RIDE had to separately identify the two schools a few years ago. Thank you.

Music Assembly

On 3/25 we had an assembly with music phenom Brent Daniels. He is an award-winning music producer, composer, sound designer and music industry veteran. His music and sought-after production style can be heard most recently in numerous movie trailers including Black Panther, A Wrinkle In Time, Terminator Dark Fate and Chaos Walking, as well as video game trailers for “Destiny 2: Beyond Light” and “Call Of Duty: Black Ops." Although the assembly was virtual, Brent was very engaging, insightful, and knowledgeable. He got the children involved and hyped up during the assembly. Brent took sounds and voices of our students (and me) and composed a wonderful and catchy tune. You can view it by clicking on the private link.

IMPORTANT: For student privacy and copyright, please DO NOT upload the music to YouTube or any other services.

Dear Parents of K-4th students,

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, dentists will not be coming to the schools to do the dental screening for our students here at Hope Valley Elementary. They will need to be done electronically. Please click the link below for information regarding the electronic dental survey that can be used for dental screening during the 2020-2021 school year. Parents please fill out this form for your child. The survey also contains information about obtaining a dentist if you do not have one. The deadline to complete the dental screening is April 1, 2021. If you have questions or concerns please reach out to Nurse Tara.

When can a child access DL?

We are running into issues where families are trying to access DL for reasons other than what's listed below. There are district guidelines and expectations for Distance Learning. Students cannot simply just move to DL, there must be a valid reason. So, please know that if your child is registered for in-person learning, the ONLY time they should be accessing distance learning is:

  • if they have symptoms,
  • are in quarantine/isolation,
  • the class/district/school is placed on distance learning per the district/school administration, or
  • DL was the learning scenario they registered for T2.

If a student does access DL when they are an in-person learner, and it is not for one of the reasons noted above, the student will be marked absent for the day.
