School Dance Tonight

BWMS Families,

The 1st School Dance for 6th through 8th Graders at BWMS is next Friday 9/18/26 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM in the gym. We will have a DJ Matt Ryan play some good tunes and the kids will have a great time eating snacks from the concession stand. School Dances at BWMS are limited to our students and chaperoned by school staff. The cost is $5.00 at the door. Students should enter from the Athletic Entrance at the side of the building and student pick up will be according to the designated grade-level parking lot (please see below). We will encourage student pick up to enter from S Old 3C and exit on Letts Ave and for parents to park in the grade assigned parking lot. Please note that this event is for BWMS Students Only and casual dress is encouraged. In addition, all school rules continue to apply at the dance. We look forward to our students enjoying this event.

Have a great day and Go Eagles!

Sincerely,

Mr. Josh Frame

  • There is no school for students on Monday 9/21/26 due to a Teacher PD Day.

  • The first BWMS Conference Night is Tuesday 9/22/26. We will share out the link to sign up for the first Parent Teacher Conference Night soon via ParentSquare. Conference Link is Here. Mr. Frame will also host a parent informational meeting on the topic of Navigating MS Grades at 6:00 PM in the Library.

  • Picture Day is Tuesday 9/22/26. Students will have their pictures taken out of Science Classes. Forms have already been emailed to families and a hardcopy will also be available in the MS office.

  • Mid point of the 1st quarter is Friday 9/25/26. We call these Grade Update Days and we encourage all parents to log into PowerSchool to check the progress of their student's performance.

  • BWMS Spirit Week is coming the week of Monday 9/28/26! Spirit days from our Student Council will be shared soon as we help cheer the Eagles to victory for their homecoming game on Friday 10/2/26.

  • Big Walnut Middle School is excited to celebrate Start with Hello Week during the week of October 5th. Every year, thousands of schools participate in Start with Hello Week, which is a week dedicated to making social connections and creating a sense of belonging in schools. During this week, your student will have the opportunity to engage in activities that help them meet new people and build community. This week also meets requirements for House Bill 123 and is a state-approved resource. If you have any questions or would like to opt your student out of these activities, please reach out to your student’s grade-level counselor. The week will finish with our Stomp Out Bullying Day on Friday 10/9/26.

  • 6th Grade Outdoor Education will take place during the week of October 6th according to the following schedule by team - 10/6 for 6-A, 10/7 for 6-B, and 10/8 for 6-C. Additional details can be found below.

Student Drop Off Reminders

Student drop-off is from 7:05–7:25 AM. First period begins promptly at 7:30 AM, and students who are not in class by 7:30 will be asked to sign in at the office. Please plan accordingly and allow enough time for your student to enter the building and get to class.

As you move through the drop-off loop, please utilize the entire length of the sidewalk. If your vehicle is stopped anywhere along the sidewalk, your student should exit the vehicle at that time. Students may enter the building through either the front entrance or the athletic entrance, so there is no need to wait until you reach a specific entrance before allowing your student to exit.

Please also continue to pull forward as far as possible, all the way to the cone located past the athletic entrance, before stopping. Using the full length of the sidewalk allows multiple vehicles to unload at the same time and helps prevent unnecessary backups in the morning.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together to keep morning arrival safe, efficient, and on time!
