Dear HES Caregivers,
What a joyful week it's been at Harwich Elementary! Our young learners continue to shine with enthusiasm and kindness. From collaborative classroom projects to the smallest acts of friendship on the playground, their positive energy is truly contagious!
This week's All Shark Meeting was particularly inspiring. Our fourth-grade ambassadors took the stage to lead a powerful presentation on empathy. Through self-written skits, colorful posters, and engaging Canva presentations, they reminded us all about the importance of understanding and sharing the feelings of others. A huge "fin-tastic" to our fourth graders for their hard work!
Of course, the highlight of the week was this morning’s surprise dusting of snow! The sheer joy and wonder on our Sharks' faces was a magical reminder of the simple pleasures of childhood.
Looking ahead, please remember that school will be closed on Monday, January 20th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I encourage you to take this opportunity to discuss Dr. King's legacy of peace and equality with your children.
As always, I am here to partner with you in supporting your child's success. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything I can do to assist you. Have a wonderful, long weekend!
Warmly,
Christie

Call the Attendance Line If Your Shark Is Absent
Per the handbook, if your child is unable to attend school, please enter the absence in PickUp Patrol and/or call our designated attendance line, 617-848-0115, as early as possible. Soon after arrival, our office staff begins to call the caregivers of absent students if we haven't already heard from them. This is important, as we want to ensure that all students are safe. Your phone message with the reason for the absence is all we need. While an email to the teacher is helpful, it sometimes doesn't make its way to the office staff. Thank you for your help!
