On the Move
Students have been working on creating a robot design and program to deliver an envelope to a specific spot. They are having to put their coding and plotting abilities as well as their designs to practice. The students have been learning how to program the robot using Python, a coding language to make moves and turns. All of their learning is now being put to the test to run the course and deliver the envelope to it designated position. This problem was based on a Vex5 coding build Medbot to measure the student's skills and simulate a real life scenario.
Author J. Brice Odom Shares His Writing Journey
Published author J. Brice Odom, brother of GWA’s own Mr. Odom, spoke Wednesday to seniors and freshmen about his experience as a writer. He discussed his creative process, talked about the publishing process in short story and independent author spaces, and emphasized most importantly: anyone can be a writer.
A Tasty Take on Science Learning
This week in science, our fifth grade students explored the structure of animal and plant cells through a hands-on (and delicious!) activity. They created edible cell models using a variety of candies and foods to represent different organelles, helping them better understand how each part functions within the cell. From cell membranes to nuclei, students carefully designed their models while making meaningful connections to what we’ve been learning in class. It was a fun, engaging experience that brought science to life and made learning both memorable and exciting!

Leadership, Service, and Community
The GWA Interact Club held their annual meeting with the Rotary Club of Monroe during a special luncheon in The Learning Center. Representing Interact as club leaders, Isabel Choe, Anthony Pham, Phillip Akin, and Mac Ferguson presented the club's service projects, achievements, and goals and plans for the future of the club. The Rotary Club provided lunch for both groups, conducted their business meeting, and networked with our students.
