Family Trip Request Form
- Your child’s attendance is crucial to their success in school. We understand that not all family experiences can be scheduled during normal school vacations. Given that, please be aware of the attendance procedures listed below when considering scheduling a family vacation outside of the normal school vacation times.
A maximum of ten (10) cumulative lawful absences verified by parental notification may be permitted during a school year. All absences beyond ten (10) cumulative days shall require official documentation.
Should your child accumulate more than 10 lawful absences we will ask for doctor’s documentation, a conversation with the nurse that results in an excused absence or other official documentation as approved by the school for future absences. Absences without medical documentation or approved by the school will be considered unexcused.
Please contact your school principal with any questions or concerns in reference to this matter.
Emails from Lothrop (RNESU)
Please be aware that we have received information that emails sent from Lothrop might go to email spam folders. Please check your spam folder routinely and let us know if you are not receiving regular communication from Lothrop (RNESU). Thank you!
Car Pick-up Reminder
Car riders are dismissed to the lower lot on Pleasant Street at 2:35 PM each day. Parents should be waiting in the car pick-up line until they reach the designated pick-up area. If you have students at Lothrop and Otter Valley, please have your children meet and wait together. We ask that you join the end of the car pick-up line to ensure that both of your children are ready to be picked up. If you arrive early, we ask that you pull into the lower lot and park. Please don’t park on Pleasant Street or Cross Street blocking in residents and/or the fire station.
Chaperone Guidelines - Sign-up to Be a Volunteer!
It is the time of year where we begin to think about field trips. If you are planning on chaperoning a field trip or volunteering at Lothrop throughout the year, you are required to complete a background check, fingerprinting, and ID scanning through Raptor, our Supervisory Union security system. Due to the amount of time it takes to complete the full process, we are asking parents/guardians to begin the process now. Appointments for fingerprinting fill up fast and we want to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to attend field trips and take part in volunteering for school events with their students. If you are interested in chaperoning or want to check and see if the background check you completed in the past is still valid, please reach out to Sara Eddy at seddy@rnesu.org or call the office at 802-483-2242.
Reminder: Lothrop Dress Code for Learners
Learners are expected to dress for school in a manner that contributes to an environment that is conducive to learner learning and success. While freedom of speech must be protected, learners should avoid wearing clothing that constitutes a health hazard, is demeaning, harassing, abusive to others, relays messages that are contrary to the educational mission of the school, or otherwise disrupts the educational process during the school day and for school sponsored activities. Dress should not expose the chest, abdomen, navel, buttocks, or underwear. Shoes must be worn at all times. Hats or hoods are ONLY allowed in classrooms with teacher permission. Expectations will be determined at the beginning of each school year. Final determination of acceptable dress will be made by the school administration.
The guidelines below will assist you in determining whether or not a learner’s manner of dress is in conflict with the educational and developmental goals of the school. Items of clothing that are unacceptable for school are those that:
1. Promote or glorify the use of alcohol, tobacco, firearms or drugs.
2. Portray, promote, or encourage illegal actions, activities, items, or substances.
3. Depict in words or graphics messages that demean, harass, threaten, exploit, or ridicule individuals or groups of people.
4. Contain profanity or that refer to or depict in words or graphics obscene gestures, actions, or messages
5. Are excessively revealing: e.g., items that expose the chest, abdomen, navel, buttocks, or underwear.
