Our Glover School Community
At Glover school we work hard to build our community of learners and to that end we held our first whole school assembly this morning, The Glover Gathering. The students participated in the pledge of allegiance, the school song and we began to explore our school values by talking about kindness. Over the next weeks, students are encouraged to look for ways to show kindness by asking someone new to play with them or greeting a student they don't know. Additionally, during our first gathering two of our students nominated a staff member for the "Staff Spotlight." This is meant to recognize an adult that the students think is doing a really great job. Our first staff member to be recognize is Dawn Whittier. Dawn is the Administrative Assistant for the Glover School. As the students shared today, "Mrs. Whittier is always there for us when we need help. She waits with us when we are waiting for our grown-ups or we aren't feeling well. She also answers all our questions - and our teachers' questions. Most importantly, she always looks happy to see us, and she is always smiling. We like that." Thank you Dawn for all that you do for the Glover School!
PBIS
At Glover School we use two evidence-based frameworks for improving our school culture, encouraging positive student behavior and creating a safe learning space. One of the frameworks is PBIS, and it stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports. One significant component to PBIS is a focus on positive behaviors. Here at Glover School our students earn tickets for being responsible, respectful, safe, & kind. These tickets are then collected with your students name on it and put into a drawing for "Rocky Reward" every Friday. The students who have their names pulled come down to receive a certificate and have their picture taken. Congratulation to our winners this week, Livi Halks, Cody Liebman, Zach Abdolmohammadi, and Margaret Speed!
