Academy Avenue Elementary School

Dear Academy Families and Friends,

April is almost halfway over we're a a few short days away from April vacation. Here are some important things to note happening around campus and the district:

• This past Friday, the school came together and celebrated out ROAR Award winners. WE also recognized our Wit & Grit Award winners and our Read Across Academy Gift Card winners. Nurse Ali and Bus 13 Driver Richard were recognized with the Staff Shining Star Award.
• Classroom 5H won the Golden Paw Award and Classroom 1Y won the Jr. Golden Paw Award for outstanding work in their specialist classes. The Ambassadors did a great job and also took some time to talk to the student body about Autism as April is Autism Awareness Month. This and more pictures can be found on our school's facebook page!
• Grade 5 students did a great job with MCAS testing this past week. That puts the ELA sessions behind with Math starting up in May, so we have a small break in between ELA and Math exams.
• Lip Sync is coming soon! Click here for more info and sign ups! This is one of our favorite night's of the school year!
• Running Club sign ups are now here for the spring program. Click here to get the form. Checks payable to the Academy Avenue School.

• Did you know, WECC has a potty training class coming up. Click here for more information.
• Screenagers only has 40 spots left for signing up. Get on that asap if you are interested. Click here for more info.

Good weather and dismissal time safety reminder:

The good weather is heading our way. Just a reminder that students and families should avoid the driveway, roundabout island and staff parking areas at the end of the day. We want to make sure all of our buses have clear sight of students when leaving campus. Also please avoid the woods area as sticks and other things should be left where they belong and not near the playground areas. Thanks!
