8TH GRADE UPDATES
Mrs. Norton's US History Class
These 8th graders are SHOWING OUT with all of their volunteer work for the Citizenship Project!
Their eagerness and positive attitude is setting a wonderful example for our other students and staff.
Whether helping in the cafeteria, raising and lowering the flag, assisting other teachers with tasks like cutting out flash cards, or helping gather class trash for the night crew - it's so amazing how their efforts are affecting the entire KMS culture!!
Keep it up students!! We are all so proud of you!!!
Mr. Wellner's ELA Class
We’re halfway through the Outsiders now!
The action is getting intense.
Congratulate your students on getting through the mid-novel quiz!
8TH GRADE SWIM UNIT
In PE this month, 8th graders began a swim unit, at the City of Kodiak Swimming Pool located behind the middle school. During classes, students will walk over, change into their swim wear, have their lesson in the pool, dry off, change back into their school clothes, and return to the middle school.
The first day, Monday, October 2, students will not be in the water. This day will be for an orientation to the pool facilities, student expectations, and pool rules.
The following days, students WILL be in the water and are expected to bring a towel, swim wear, and a bag to contain their wet belongings:

Sign-up here if you are able to help any day 10/24-10/27.
Thank you so much for your support and participation.

Also- gently used clothing, especially bottoms, all sizes.
We are happy to launder them.
Donations can be dropped off at the main office.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
HELP US REVAMP OUR RAMP ART
Mrs. King’s 8th graders went on a field trip to help secure marine debris in order to refurbish the bus ramp art.
Good news is that our beaches are clean, the bad news is that we still need plastic donations.
We are looking for cleaned shampoo & conditioner bottles, water bottle and Gatorade lids, wipes containers, detergent jugs, condiment/coffee/syrup and other food containers that are made from a heavier colored plastic.
Please do not throw these away, but collect them for us and send them to the office with your student.
Thank you so very much!
KMS PTSA MEETING, 10/12 @ 6PM
PLEASE SAVE YOUR USED PLASTIC BAGS FOR US!
The PTSA Cookie Dough Fundraiser is halfway over!
Cookie dough will arrive on island near the end of November. We have to distribute that dough very quickly, and 1 tub weighs THREE POUNDS!
To help us expedite pick-up and loading your orders into your car, we are begging, PLEADING, for your used plastic bags. Our volunteers would really appreciate it!
Bags can be sent in with your student and dropped in the front office, or brought to the October 12 PTSA meeting.
COMING SOON
Here you will find events that will be happening in the next couple of months, but not during the coming week.
