Arrival & Dismissal Safety Reminder Arrival & Dismissal Safety Reminder

Please do not park on McCormack during arrival or dismissal to pick up or drop off your child. If you are transporting your child by car, please use the car line.

We are seeing many cars parked on both sides of McCormack, causing students to walk between parked vehicles and making it difficult for drivers to see them. This creates a serious safety concern.

Students who are walkers should be walking to a home in the neighborhood. Students have been reminded to use the crosswalk and stay on the side of the street where their home is located.

We have also received concerns from neighbors about blocked driveways and vehicles parking on lawns. Please be respectful of our neighbors and keep driveways and yards clear.

Dismissal begins at 3:55 p.m., and our car line has consistently been finished by approximately 4:08 p.m. each day. The arrival car line also moves very quickly.

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and be good neighbors!

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held Monday–Thursday, October 12–15. Teachers will share their available times throughout the week, and we ask each family to select a slot that best fits your schedule. Specials teachers and support staff are also available; please email them directly to set up a time.

  • Please sign up by Friday, October 9.

Items to note

  • One conference per child. For families with shared custody, please plan to attend the same time slot together.

  • If you will be on vacation during scheduled conference times, please do not expect a conference (in person or by phone) on a non-conference day.

  • Fall conferences are for parents/guardians only.

Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions. We appreciate your partnership!

Fall Parade & Parties Fall Parade & Parties

Costume Guidelines & Schedule Costume Guidelines & Schedule

There are lots of fun costume options out there! While your child may choose a scary or gory costume for Halloween night, these types of costumes are not appropriate for school. Please help your child use discretion when choosing a costume for our parade and parties.

For everyone’s safety and comfort at Canyon Creek, please avoid:

  • Costumes that appear bloody, gory, or violent

  • Weapons or look-alikes (e.g., toy guns, knives, spears, scythes) — leave these at home

  • Masks that circulate colored liquid must remain turned off while at school

If you have questions about costume choices, please check with Mrs. James.

Event Day Details (Friday, October 30)

  • Parade: 9:15 AM

    • Weather permitting, the parade will be outside on the playground.

    • Spectators may set up chairs in designated areas around the perimeter and in the center of the playground. Bring your camera and join us!

    • Inclement weather plan: Parade moves inside.

  • Classroom Parties: Immediately after the parade and end at 10:00 AM.

  • Room Parents: May go to classrooms to begin set-up at 8:55 AM.

Costumes at School

  • Students should arrive in costume.

  • They may stay in costume all day or change after the party.

  • Accessories will be stored in lockers after the party.

  • Parents who choose to dress up should follow the same guidelines as students.

Thanks for helping us keep the day fun, festive, and safe for all!
