June 9, 2023

We had very busy and exciting days at Warren School this week! We celebrated our first Unified Special Olympics with our young athletes, with classmates cheering and participating. Our PTO created an outstanding event for our second graders in which the students were able to work together and play some exciting games while making new friends. That evening, we celebrated our grade 2 students and had our Farewell BBQ for parents and second grade students, where Mrs. Altman and I grilled over 500 burgers and 200 hot dogs! Grade 1 celebrated the Fairytale Ball while kindergarten had their field day. All these events contribute to the love and excitement our students and staff have for our school.

Have a great weekend,

Pete Regan

Bus Registration for 2023-2024 Bus Registration for 2023-2024

Ashland Public Schools provides free transportation to Ashland students in Grades K-6 who reside more than two (2.0) miles from school. Students in Grades K-6 who live two or fewer miles from school and all students in Grades 7-12 may pay an annual transportation fee if they want to take the bus to and from school. Due to limited transportation options, all paid seats will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration

Registrations received after June 1 may be processed on September 1, 2023. The fee is $360 per student or $720 (maximum family cap) for two or more students from the same family. Registration is required for each student. Submit payments to Ashland Public Schools at epay.cityhallsystems.com, select the School Department and the drop-down option for Bus Transportation.

Students will be assigned to a bus once their full and complete application has been received. Once bus capacity has been reached, a waitlist will be created. Late registrations will be placed on a waitlist and offered a seat if one becomes available during the school year.

Instructions to Submit Payment

A step-by-step video tutorial to learn how to submit an online payment is available at ashland.k12.ma.us/Transportation.

MEDICATION PICK-UP

Parents of students who have medication stored in the health office should pick it up by the last day of school. Medication cannot be given to students — it must be picked up by a parent. All medication (pills, EpiPens, inhalers, etc.) cannot be stored over the summer. Any medications left at the health office will be discarded.

MEDICATION ORDERS

All medication orders expire at the end of the school year. If you are visiting your child’s healthcare provider over the summer, please consider requesting a new medication order for your child. All medication, prescription or over-the-counter, requires a physician's order.

Medications for the upcoming school year must be accompanied by a new physician’s order, parent permission to administer, and a prescription bottle/package with the child's name on it. Parents may hand-deliver medications with completed forms to the health office starting the week before the start of the new school year.

Important End of Year Message from Nutrition Services Important End of Year Message from Nutrition Services

If you have a student who will not be returning to Ashland Public Schools in the fall, please go to www.myschoolbucks.com and disable autopay if you have been automatically adding funds to your child's meals account. Otherwise, no matter how many times we refund the balance on your account, it will keep getting reloaded.

Also, keep in mind, we can only issue refunds for amounts of $10 or more. If your child does not spend all of their funds, but the balance is below $10, your options are to

  1. transfer the funds to a sibling or someone else of your choosing who will be back next year
  2. donate the funds to a student in need (as an anonymous transfer)

Seniors can get a form from the cashier at Ashland High School to notify Nutrition Services of what they would like to do with the remaining funds in their accounts.

Once again, please shut off autopay now if your child is not coming back to Ashland in the fall.

Please send all refund, transfer or donation requests to Nutrition Services Director Regina Wilkinson at rwilkinson@ashland.k12.ma.us and Paula Caffrey at pcaffrey@ashland.k12.ma.us.
