Principal's Message
Hello Lincoln Community,
We hope you are enjoying this amazing summer! With just over two weeks until the first day of school, we're excited to get started with the 2024-2025 school year. It's our honor and privilege to serve you and the Lincoln community as the Lincoln Elementary administrative team. We are looking forward to our second year leading this wonderful school and continuing to provide support to help all students be successful.
At Lincoln Elementary we have a shared vision and we partner with families with the goal of providing the right instruction for every student. We build inclusive environments to empower all students and help each student to have a strong sense of belonging. As we partner together, we look forward to learning more about you and your child or children as we continue to provide a positive, respectful, engaging, and safe environment.
Over the summer, our staff have been working to prepare for the start of a successful school year. Facilities improvements includes a new roof for our school, a project that will be completed very soon. Staff preparation this year will place an even higher priority on students social and emotional well being. We are also excited to begin using our newly adopted math curriculum materials.
Please feel free to send your questions or feedback to us at teresa.alfaro@woodburnsd.org or pmcdougal@woodburnsd.org. Go Dolphins!
Sincerely,
Teresa Alfaro - Principal
Peter McDougal - Assistant Principal
First Day or School ... with more Details Coming Soon
The first day of school for 1st through 5th graders is Monday, August 26th. School hours will be the same with the instructional day starting at 7:55 and ending at 2:20. Like past years, our kindergartners will have a staggered start with approximately a quarter of the students attending each of the first four days; then on Friday, August 30, all kindergartners will have their first day together.
More Details Coming Soon: During the week of August 19th, we will send out more detailed information, including the name of your child's teacher, a copy of the school year calendar, and a description of what's changed, as well as what will remain the same. You will also receive specific information on your child's bus stop and the pick up and drop off time for that stop. In the meantime, if you have questions, you can call the Lincoln office at 503-981-2825.
Meet Your Lincoln Administrative Team
Mrs. Alfaro - Principal
I have been in education for over 29 years. I began my educational career in Salem-Keizer as an instructional assistant at Weddle Elementary. Furthermore, I obtained a Master of Arts in teaching in 2008 and taught at Eyre Elementary as a second-grade bilingual teacher. After working as a teacher, I served as part of the bilingual education team as an English language acquisition specialist and bilingual program assistant. I had my first assignment as an assistant principal at Heritage Elementary, worked as an assistant principal and principal at Salem-Keizer, and now in Woodburn as the principal at Lincoln Elementary.
Dr. McDougal - Assistant Principal
I am beginning my 29th year as an educator and second year helping lead Lincoln Elementary. This is my fifth year in the Woodburn School District, with previous experience leading and helping lead our District's middle schools. I earned my Master of Arts in Education in 1996 and my Doctorate in Educational Leadership in 2011. Prior to Woodburn, I led schools at the K-5 and secondary levels, primarily in West Linn - Wilsonville. I started my career teaching language arts, social studies, and Spanish. I value strong partnerships with families, opening up opportunities for every student, and fostering a positive school culture.
As a Team
We believe that all students can learn and that all students have strengths. We know that families, staff, the community, and administrators all have important roles to play in supporting students’ success. It is our desire to provide opportunities to collaborate to support students academically, socially, and emotionally. Please feel free to contact us, as our doors will always be open. Let us know how we can serve you and support your child or children.
