From Nurse Becky

Did you know Calvin Coolidge created Child Health Day to bring awareness to the health needs of children? Up until that point, there was no specialized health care for children, and their health needs were often overlooked. It was originally created on May 1, 1928, and later moved to where we observe it today, the first Monday in October. Every year our current president makes a proclamation on Child Health Day regarding the current steps in place to protect our children. For the month of October, the presentation in the elementary classrooms is on Child Health and ways we can be healthy. Such as: washing our hands, taking a bath, eating healthy, and exercising to name a few. I encourage you and your family to find something health-related to add to your daily routine. Maybe it’s taking a walk as a family. Maybe it’s encouraging each other to eat more fruits or vegetables. And maybe it's scheduling a well-child appointment. Whatever it is, use it as a way to teach your kids about healthy choices.

This month the Dental Bus will be at each of our buildings to offer cleanings. If you haven’t signed your child up and you would like them to be seen, print off the form below and have them bring it into the office. They will be here starting October 4th and resuming October 8 - 11th. New this year, the State of Michigan is rolling out the Kindergarten Oral Assessment Program (KOHA). All new kindergarteners for the 2024-25 school year are required to have an oral assessment done and put into MCiR(the Michigan Care Improvement Registry). MCiR houses immunization records, and hearing and eye exams. These can be done by your dentist or they can be done by the dental bus. Just let us know if you’d like them to do this exam while they are here. Please see the attached form that you can take to your own dentist if you'd like it done there and return it to school
