Discuss This Year and What Comes Next

Your students have come a long way since September- mastering new skills, reading new books, and perhaps even overcoming some learning obstacles. Review this years learning together and look ahead to next year.

Successes: What goals did your child accomplish? What project did your student learn the most from? What strategies did your child use to overcome challenges.

Personal Growth: How has your child changed this year? Discuss specific instances where your elementary schooler showed resilience, a positive attitude, or a strong work ethic.

What's ahead: What seems exciting about next year? Is there a subject your child would like to improve in or an extracurricular activity that sounds interesting?

A New Goal: Have your child learn something new this summer. Together, make a detailed plan to achieve a goal.

THANK YOU PARENTS!

Thank you so much for the amazing donations to add the swings to our Mighty Meadowlark playground. This would not have happened if it wasn't for you! Your hard work and dedication to this school makes it feel like family. Thank you for your continued support.

THANK YOU PTA AND FAMILIES THANK YOU PTA AND FAMILIES

Our Teacher Appreciation Week was so thoughtful.Thank you PTA and the families that donated time and food. You are all so amazing!

On that note, we are in need of a PTA president. Please reach out to Colleen for more information. We hope to see many volunteers for such a honorable position.

How can I help my student improve before next year?

Talk with the teacher as soon as possible find out. Find out what specific areas your child struggles with. Ask what resources are available through the school to help your student strengthen those skills, now and over the summer. Can the teacher recommend educational apps and strategies you can use at home? Together lay out a summer learning plan.

Rule out possible medical causes- Have your child's hearing and vision checked.

Schedule time each day for your child to work on school skills.

Reinforce your child's sense of competence- Offer reminders of past learning successes, particularly those that involved effort.

Have fun learning together this summer. Visit museums and historic sites. Attend a free concert. Go on nature hikes and try to identify things you see. New experiences strengthen your child's foundation of learning.

This program is available to any student in Billings Public Schools, as well as their siblings who are not yet school-aged, who may be at risk of experiencing food insecurity during the summer months. Our goal is to ensure students and families have access to consistent, nutritious food when school is not in session.
