SFJHS Quote of the Week SFJHS Quote of the Week

Maya Angelou's quote, "Nothing can dim the light that shines from within," aligns closely with SFJHS’s value of "Finding My Voice," as it emphasizes the inner strength and self-expression that define individual identity. Pursuing and exploring new opportunities reflects the courage to let that internal light guide one’s path, even into the unknown.

SCHOOL FEES REMINDERS SCHOOL FEES REMINDERS

We are being asked to start looking at school fees. Please start looking to see if any fees are due for your student. With Lagoon, and yearbook distribution coming up we would like to get all fees taken care of before those events occur so your students can participate! School Fees may be paid online at My School Fees. Other items, such as the Chromebook Protection Plan and yearbooks, can also be paid through My School Fees under “optional fees.” All credit card transactions, whether in person or online, will incur a $2 fee as directed by district finance policy.

Lagoon Lagoon

LAGOON DAY will be Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Please be aware of the following criteria for Lagoon attendance: No F’s in 4th term, No outstanding balances including: lunch account, unpaid school fees, library fines, text book fines from classes, No more than 3 hours of detention, No N or U for citizenship in more than one class for 4th term, Behavior documented on behavior screen or Administrative ineligibility (based on pattern of behavior that may put themselves or others at risk). School will be held on May 20th during normal hours for those students who choose not to go to Lagoon or are not eligible to attend. Students attending school instead of Lagoon should meet in the cafeteria at 8:00 am.

Permission Slip & Cost

Park entrance passes are $55 and the bus fare is $25, bringing the total to $80 for Lagoon. The $80 must be paid at school with our finance secretary, Mrs. Fay. Students can use their Lagoon season passes for the entrance fee but would need to pay the $25 for the bus fare. Students may bring their completed permission slip and payment for the ticket to the school financial office beginning Monday, April 21st. Ticket sales will continue through Friday, May 2nd, or until available bus seats fill up.

Loading Buses at SFJHS/Lagoon

We will load the buses in front of the school beginning at 7:30 am and depart promptly at 7:45 am. Returning buses will begin loading at 3:30 pm and will be departing Lagoon promptly at 3:45 pm. Parents, please be aware that Lagoon closes at 4:00 pm this day so having your student stay later to be picked up by you won’t be an option. If a student rides the bus from SFJHS to Lagoon, they must return back to SFJHS on the bus as well. Any student who is not on their assigned bus by 3:45 pm will be left at Lagoon and will need to be picked up by parents. It is anticipated that we will arrive back at Spanish Fork Jr. between 4:45 and 5:00 pm. Due to the late return, please be aware that the school will not be open and school bus service will not be available. Students and parents should make the needed arrangements for rides beforehand.

Lunch

Students will be responsible to provide their own lunch or they may pre-order a school sack lunch. To request a school sack lunch contact the front office by Friday, April 25th. Sack lunches will be available for pick up in the cafeteria at 7:15 on the morning we leave.

Nebo Policy dress code will be enforced. Any illegal activities, inappropriate conduct, insubordinate behavior, etc. will be dealt with by Lagoon authorities and the students involved will be held at Lagoon until picked up by parents.

We cannot permit a student to go on this trip unless the permission slip below has been signed and returned with the $80.00 non-refundable ticket.

Jay Tolman, a freshman, and Livvy Ryskamp and Alexis Henricksen, both eighth-graders, were part of a program showcasing 15 of the best junior high slam poets from five junior high schools. All three had wonderful performances that were well appreciated by the audience of approximately 120 friends and family members.

DoorDash is convenient, but is NOT approved on campus. Orders will begin being sent away as it is too hard to keep track of who's order is who's. To easily change this issue, we are going back to the original approach of NO DOOR DASH deliveries to the front of the office. We appreciate your help in this matter.
