Our Learning Community...
A huge congratulations to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students for all of their hard work during state testing! The majority of our test takers have now finished and we could not be more proud of the effort, perseverance, and positive attitude they showed each day. Testing takes focus, stamina and confidence and our students truly rose to the challenge. Thank you to our families for supporting them with encouragement, rest, and routines at home.
As we head into the final 8 days of school before summer, there is still so much excitement ahead! We have special events, celebrations, learning opportunities, and end-of-year traditions to enjoy together. Please continue to check communication from teachers and our Dolphin Updates so you don’t miss important dates and reminders.
Let’s finish the year strong, working hard, showing kindness and making these final days together meaningful and memorable!
Bike to School...
Highlights From Last Week...
A library full of possibilities! Our students loved exploring the Scholastic Book Fair this week and discovering stories that spark imagination, curiosity, and a love of reading.
Every purchase helps put exciting new books into the hands of our students and earns rewards points for our school library.
Thanks to your support, Mrs. Williams can use those points to purchase brand new books for all students to enjoy on their weekly classroom visit to our school library.
Thank you to everyone who donated to our Student Council's 2nd Food Drive of the year!
Our Student Council leaders delivered the food to the Serra Mesa Food Pantry where they learned about how the shelf stable food items are sorted and stocked onto shelves.
They could see the immediate need, our donations came at a very good time for the community!
Friday's Achievement Awards celebrated the hard work, growth, and accomplishments of our students throughout this final trimester of the school year.
We recognized students with excellent attendance, defined as three or fewer absences, tardies, or early withdrawals during the third trimester and for academic achievement and classroom contributions.
Families, thank you for your continued partnership, encouragement, and support throughout the year!

PTA Spotlight...
The Jones PTA plays a crucial role in fostering strong family engagement at Jones Elementary. By organizing activities that bring families, students, and staff together, the PTA helps grow a stronger sense of belonging within our school community. These events not only strengthen relationships but also empower families to be active participants in their children's education, enhancing student success and building a supportive, collaborative school environment. Thank you for the leadership of our PTA Executive Board members, the volunteers that plan and execute PTA events, and all of you who participate! Check out what our PTA is up to...

Jewish American Heritage Month
Did you know that just 15 minutes of reading each day can make a world of difference in your child’s learning journey? Whether you are reading to your child, reading together, or listening to them read aloud, it all counts and it all matters!
Reading at home builds more than just literacy skills. It strengthens vocabulary, improves comprehension, and develops a lifelong love of learning. In fact, children who are read to daily are exposed to 1.4 million more words by the time they start school than children who are not. That kind of language exposure lays a strong foundation for both academic success and confident communication.
Just as importantly, books also help children grow socially by allowing them to step into other people’s experiences, see the world from different perspectives and practice empathy and kindness. Stories have the power to spark cultural awareness, build understanding and nurture the skills that help our students become not only successful learners, but also compassionate human beings.
Here are a few ways to make reading a special part of your routine:
-
Choose a cozy time and space to read together
-
Let your child pick the book (even if it’s the same one again!)
-
Ask questions about the story to boost comprehension
-
Model a love for reading by enjoying your own book nearby
The best part, your family has access to an endless amount of books through the internet and the Public Library. Looking for something new to read? Check out the links below for inspiration...
