Celebrating Music in our Schools Month
Each March, Osseo Area Schools recognizes Music In Our Schools Month, which is an opportunity for music teachers to bring their music programs to the attention of the school and the community, and to display the benefits that school music brings to students of all ages. Rice Lake Elementary School fourth graders spent March learning and practicing their recorder skills, which they will put to the test after Spring Break with opportunities to earn colored “belts” to add to their recorders.
Students at Rice Lake also got into the spirit of Music in our Schools Month with a Music March Madness bracket. Staff members across the building chose 16 songs from a variety of genres for the bracket, including “We Got the Beat,” “Dancing Queen” and “Unwritten.” Students voted each week in their music class, picking which song they liked more and narrowing it down to a final match up between “You Got the Keys” and “When Can I See You Again?”
