Volunteer at Stone Creek Volunteer at Stone Creek

We really hope to increase our parent involvement in Stone Creek during the 25-26 school year. One way we are looking to increase parent involvement is through volunteers at Stone Creek. We are looking for volunteers who want to work in the school, work at SCE special events, and volunteer from home.

If you are interested, you need to make sure you are an approved volunteer for WSD. Click here for details on how to become a volunteer! There is an annual step for renewal that must be completed before becoming a volunteer.

Please click on the button below to show your interest in becoming a Stone Creek Volunteer. This will help us build our list of who to communicate with when volunteers are needed. We can't wait to boost up our volunteers this year.

Congratulations to Michelle Fischbach for being Stone Creek's August Volunteer of the Month! Michelle will receive preferential parking in our Volunteer of the Month parking spot and a Fast Pass for the month of September Together, our volunteers took 14 HOURS of work off of our teacher's plates for June, July, and August. Thanks again to ALL of our volunteers for filling in the missing piece to our puzzle, we appreciate you!

House Games | Volunteers Needed House Games | Volunteers Needed

During the 25-26 school year, we will hold House Games. House Games are meant to reward students who have 95% attendance and good behavior with an extra time to spend with their entire house. During this time, students have the choice to play several different organized games out on the blacktop and field. We love to have parents volunteer to work these days. Each house will go out at a different time for 30 minutes.

If this interests you, please use the button below to submit your interest. We will follow up a few weeks prior to the House Games to see if you are able to volunteer on that date. You will need to have your 25-26 volunteer approval granted to volunteer at House Games. We hope some of you will join us in celebrating our students during House Games.

Updates to Water Day for 25-26 Updates to Water Day for 25-26

For the past few years, we celebrated at-home reading work with students being allowed to attend Water Day in May. This year we are revamping what we are doing and want to make all families aware of the changes. All students have set goals in reading, math, and attendance. When students reach their goal, they move their Golden Snitch onto the grade level data board to show the goal was met. We know our students can reach these goals when both school and home are working to improve learning.

Starting Friday, September 5, the first Snitch Report will come home with each student. We are asking for you to "snitch" on all the learning that is happening at home. The Snitch Report explains what needs to be done for each grade level each week. Teachers and students will track the completion of the work at home. Any student who completes 80% of the Snitch Reports for the year will be invited to participate in Water Day in May.

Throughout the year, families will be updated if a student is not on track to reach the 80% completion mark. If you are struggling with your child completing work at home, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Treats for SCE Staff

At Stone Creek, our staff works hard every day, and we think they deserve more than just high fives--they deserve snacks! That's why our Treat Trolley will be rolling through Stone Creek several times this year, delivering drinks, candy, chips, and all sorts of teacher-approved treats. Here is our Amazon wish list link

Thanks to a quick survey, we know exactly what makes our staff smile (spoiler: it involves caffeine, chips, and candy) You can help by grabbing a treat from our Amazon wish list and sending a little joy their way. Or if you prefer, you are welcome to purchase any of the items from the wish list at your local store and drop them off to the front office. Please let our office staff know that your donation is for the Treat Trolley. Here is our Amazon wish list link

Stock the trolley and help keep our staff fueled, happy, and ready to inspire!

Birthday Books for SCE Students

The Library is thrilled to share that our school's book vending machine is helping us celebrate students in many special ways - one way is by giving each child a free book on their birthday! To keep the machine filled with exciting choices, we're asking for your help. Instead of monetary donations, we've created an Amazon wish list with books selected just for our students. (Book sets will be separated for one book per student) By clicking the link and purchasing a book (or two!), you'll be helping us make birthdays extra special while fostering a love of reading. Thank you for your support!

Get Art Smart!

Welcome back, dragon artists, to a new school year filled with creativity and expression! We are so excited to see all the amazing projects you'll create and the ideas you'll bring to life in art class. We have a lot of fun and messy art planned.

Speaking of messy... It is important to remember that most of the art supplies we use—including markers, paint, and ink—are not washable. The school will not be providing paint shirts for students. If you are concerned about art materials getting on your child's clothes, we encourage your student to wear clothes that are okay to get messy on art days. A great alternative is for you to send your student to school with their own art smock or shirt on art days. To keep their personal art shirt safe and accessible, students should store it in their backpack and remember to bring it with them to art class on their own. We will not be able to store these for students in the classroom.

Let's make this a year of vibrant masterpieces!

Reading Intervention Update Reading Intervention Update

This fall, teachers and reading interventionists will be conducting reading assessments with all students. These assessments help us plan lessons and identify students who might benefit from extra reading support. In addition, our building reading specialists will work with small groups of students at the beginning of the year. These flexible groupings are not the same as Reading Intervention, families will be contacted directly by their child's teacher if he/she qualifies for Reading Intervention. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your child's classroom teacher.
