Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!
Dear Kinnaman Elementary School Community,
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! As we embark on this new academic journey together, I am thrilled to extend a warm and enthusiastic greeting to all our students, families, staff, and community members.
This year, we will continue to implement the Beaverton School District’s strategic plan with a steadfast commitment to the values of Belong, Believe, and Achieve. Our theme for the year, "Grow Together," perfectly aligns with this vision and encapsulates our collective aspirations for the year ahead.
Belong: At Kinnaman Elementary, we believe that every student, family, and staff member is an integral part of our community. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and connected. Through various programs, activities, and open communication, we will work to ensure that each individual feels a strong sense of belonging.
Believe: We hold a deep conviction in the potential of every student. By nurturing a growth mindset and celebrating individual strengths, we aim to inspire confidence and curiosity in our learners. Our educators are committed to providing a rich, engaging curriculum that challenges and supports each child, helping them to believe in their own abilities and potential.
Achieve: Success is a journey we undertake together. We will strive for excellence in all that we do, setting high expectations while providing the necessary resources and encouragement for our students to reach their goals. Our collaborative efforts, along with your support, will pave the way for academic and personal achievements.
Grow Together: We believe if you plant kindness everyone grows together. The essence of our theme, “Grow Together,” is collaboration and mutual support. As we move forward, we encourage active participation from all corners of our community. By working together, sharing ideas, and supporting one another, we can cultivate a thriving and dynamic learning environment.
We are excited about the possibilities that this school year holds and look forward to seeing our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, let us embrace this opportunity to make a positive impact and create lasting memories.
Thank you for being a vital part of the Kinnaman Elementary School community. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead where we all grow together!
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year, Coyotes!

Classroom Teacher Assignments
Parents and caregivers will begin receive information about their child's classroom assignment between August 16-19. If you have not received notification prior to our meet the teacher event on August 22, we can notify you at the event. Please note that these assignments may change before or after the school year begins. Adjustments are made based on enrollment numbers before the start of school, the actual number of students who attend during the first few weeks, and changes in staffing.
We look forward to a beautiful year ahead!

Arrival and Dismissal
Doors open at 7:30 each morning. Students in grades 1-5 that arrive between 7:30-7:45 will have three options to choose from. The can go to the cafeteria to receive a free breakfast, they can head to the gym, or they can choose to participate in a structured activity under the covered area out back. All three areas will have supervision until the morning bell at 7:45. Students will then collect all belongings and head to their classroom where they will be greeted by their teacher at 7:45.
Kindergarten students that arrive between 7:30-7:45 will have two choices. They can have free breakfast in the cafeteria or head to directly to the library where they will have literacy instruction from our academic coach, Mrs. Scribner.
Please take note of the pick up and drop off locations. The north end of the building is where students who are not riding the school bus will be dropped off and picked up. The parking area in the front of our school building is strictly reserved for school buses.
Return to School – Plan Your Trip
Beaverton Safe Routes to School invites you to explore your options for safe travel to school on our website. We have provided suggested routes for walking and rolling, as well as safety tips for all modes of travel. Additionally, you will find arrival and departure maps for every elementary and middle school. These maps indicate how students who travel by foot, bus and car should arrive and leave our school campuses. The safety of our students depends on you! To learn more visit www.beaverton.k12.or.us/safe-routes
Walkers/Bikers
There are two crossing guards to assist with safe arrival and dismissal. One crossing guard is located at the intersection of Kinnaman and 193rd Ave. and the other crossing guard is located on the corner of 193rd and SW Westword St.
We recommend that students secure bicycles to the bicycle rack with a lock.
Please enter the school through the doors at the main entrance.
Car Pick Up and Drop Off
Drivers should alternate entry into the parking lot one car at a time from each lane. In order to keep traffic flow moving, drivers are asked to remain in vehicles.
Students who do not ride the bus, walk, or ride their bike are dropped off and picked up in the parking lot on the north side of the school. If it is after 8:30 a.m., students should be dropped off at the main entrance in the front of the school.
Bus Transportation
Our Transportation Department will be notifying families about bus routes. Families can learn more on our transportation webpage.
Kinnaman Student Directory
Would you like to have your child added to the Kinnaman Student Directory? Here is the link for the new Kinnaman Student Directory Google form for families who would like to be in the 2024-2025 student directory. This is a great ways for families to be able to connect outside of school hours 😊
Nutrition Services
Keypad Practice Sheets can be used to help your child practice how they will type their student ID number into the Keypad after they get their lunch. We are hoping students can learn their numbers quickly and do not have to rely on the ID Cards for too long. Help your child practice at home. If you do not know your child's ID number, you can find it under their account information in ParentVue 🙂
New Visitor/Volunteer Policy
If you haven’t done so already, please reapply to be a volunteer or visitor in the Beaverton School District. We’re implementing a new volunteer management system and need time to process and complete the criminal background checks for all applicants.
Please note, that to enter the school building during regular student hours, you must have completed the background check. It takes about 10 days to process so please plan ahead.
Start on the Volunteer webpage on the district website. The entire process — including the review of the Child Abuse Prevention & Reporting and Adult Sexual Misconduct training materials — should take less than 10 minutes to complete.
Thank you for prioritizing our students’ safety and for your willingness to volunteer in BSD.
