Hello,

I want to thank the PTSA and our staff for their support in helping DHS to have an outstanding homecoming week. I want to continue to stress there are many ways parents can contribute to the PTSA. DHS staff organized student participation in the parade, cheered at the game, and chaperoned the dance. A special thanks goes to Ms. Amanda Lockhart for her leadership in the hall decorations, pep rally, parade, and halftime ceremony.

As we have shifted to semester grading, please continue to monitor your student’s grades. If challenges arise, reach out directly to the teacher as they can provide the quickest answers and support. Encourage your student to take advantage of tutoring, retake opportunities, and remediation.

Sincerely,

Duane Sprull, Ed.

To keep our campus safe and ensure accurate attendance records, please review these mid-day check-in and check-out guidelines for DHS students!

  • General Rule: Any student entering or exiting during the school day (including passing periods) must physically check in or out at the Attendance Office. Turning in an excuse note does not automatically update arrival times.

  • Dual Enrollment, WBL, & Interns: Students may enter and exit per approved schedules, but must check in or out if arriving late for campus classes or leaving early.

Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe and organized! Please reach out to Attendance Clerk Sabrina Benson at sabrina.benson@csdecatur.net with any questions.

On October 21, nine DHS students involved in HOSA and/or the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program attended the American Association for Cancer Research Conference, where they had the opportunity to learn from leaders in cancer research and explore exciting developments in the field. During a conference trivia competition, our students demonstrated their knowledge and school spirit, with three students bringing home prizes!

Students also participated in rotating small-group discussions with researchers, learning about their current work, career journeys, and paths to success. During the poster session, they explored ongoing research and gained insight into the discoveries and innovations shaping the future of cancer research. The conference provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect with scientists, ask questions, and deepen their interest in science and medicine.

πŸŽ“ Students Track Your Service Hours Toward the PTSA Community Service Cord.

DHS students can earn a PTSA Community Service Graduation Cord by completing 60 approved hours of community service during high school. Before getting started, students should review the PTSA Community Service Guidelines to understand the requirements for earning the cord, including what activities qualify as community service and how hours should be documented. Hours are tracked through MobileServe, and students set up their own account using their CSD email and log hours as they go.
