Good morning, Orca Learning Community!

Our school community is complete now that we welcomed our Kindergarten students this past Monday! Our youngest learners brought joy, smiles, and extra energy to our campus this week!

September is Attendance Awareness Month!
Did you know that showing up to school every day is one of the most important ways students can be successful? Consistent attendance builds strong routines, keeps students connected, and ensures they don’t miss valuable learning time. Missing even one day a week adds up to nearly 40 days of school—or about 200 hours of instruction—over the course of the year! Let’s work together to build strong attendance habits from the very beginning of the school year. Every day counts, and every student matters!

Upcoming this week-

• On Monday, September 15th, we will recognize the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month (and the independence day for many Central and South American countries).
• This Friday, we will have our first Orca Family Friday Assembly. As the beginning of the day, students will come to the cafeteria to enage in a school-wide assembly. Teachers will also be handing out our grade-level-color Armin Jahr student shirts!

¡Buenos días, Comunidad de Aprendizaje Orca!

¡Nuestra comunidad escolar ya está completa ahora que recibimos a nuestros estudiantes de Kindergarten este lunes! Nuestros aprendices más pequeños trajeron alegría, sonrisas y mucha energía a nuestro campus esta semana.

¡Septiembre es el Mes de Conciencia sobre la Asistencia!
¿Sabías que venir a la escuela todos los días es una de las formas más importantes para que los estudiantes tengan éxito? La asistencia constante ayuda a formar buenas rutinas, mantiene a los estudiantes conectados y asegura que no pierdan tiempo valioso de aprendizaje. ¡Faltar incluso un día por semana suma casi 40 días de escuela—o unas 200 horas de instrucción—en todo el año escolar! Trabajemos juntos para crear buenos hábitos de asistencia desde el inicio del año. ¡Cada día cuenta y cada estudiante es importante!

Lo que viene esta semana:

• Lunes, 15 de septiembre: Reconoceremos el inicio del Mes de la Herencia Hispana (y el día de independencia de muchos países de Centro y Sudamérica).

• Este viernes: Tendremos nuestra primera Asamblea Familiar Orca. Al inicio del día, los estudiantes irán a la cafetería para participar en una asamblea escolar. ¡Los maestros también entregarán nuestras camisetas de colores por grado de Armin Jahr!

Demolition started in this on our OLD Armin Jahr Campus in preparation for the groundbreaking for construction of our NEW buiding on September 22!

• Please continue to use Cherry Ave to 30th St to access the Armin Jahr campus for pick-up.

• No pick-up or drop-off is allowed at the back of campus (near the Boys & Girls Club). This area is for buses only.

• Parents will be greeted in the car line by an AJ staff member, who will notify the teacher when your child is ready for release.

• Pull all the way forward into the campus parking lot to help keep traffic moving smoothly.

• There will be a designated Parent Walk-Up Check-In area.

• Remember: All AJ students in our attendance area have access to bussing this year.

  • A new Y Bus Route was added for the Armin Jahr walk-zone.

  • You can find your bus stop HERE

• Por favor sigan usando Cherry Ave hacia 30th St para entrar al campus de Armin Jahr para la recogida.

• No se permite recoger ni dejar estudiantes en la parte de atrás del campus (cerca del Boys & Girls Club). Esta área es solo para los autobuses escolares.

• Los padres serán recibidos en la línea de autos por un miembro del personal de AJ, quien avisará al maestro cuando su hijo esté listo para salir.

• Avancen todo lo posible hacia adelante dentro del estacionamiento del campus para ayudar a que el tráfico fluya mejor.

• Habrá un área designada para el registro de padres que recogen caminando.

• Recuerden: Todos los estudiantes de AJ que viven en nuestra área de asistencia tienen acceso al autobús escolar este año.

  • Se agregó una nueva Ruta Y del autobús para la zona de caminata de Armin Jahr.

Use the link above to see the bus route schedule for Armin Jahr. A new, temporary route (Route Y) has been added to transport students from the Armin Jahr walk zone in order to bring students to the interim campus. This route will run throughout the duration of the reconstruction project starting in Fall 2025.
