Nichols Navigator News #12

Hello Navigators,

I hope everyone found conference week beneficial and you were able to collaborate on ways to support your child's learning. We have a busy week of activities.

On Tuesday 10/24 our School Site Council will meet at 7:30 AM. Even if you are not a council member you can attend. I will include a virtual link that I will send out prior to the meeting.

On 10/25 at 6 PM will be our monthly PTO meeting. Again, I will include a virtual link that I will send out prior to the meeting.

This week we will begin Red Ribbon Week - Be Kind to Your Mind, be drug free. Beginning on Tuesday we will have spirt days that will continue until Halloween. See this flier for details about the spirit days.

Our Fall Carnival is Friday, October 27th from 5:30-8 PM. You can check out this link to find out more volunteer information or sign up. Hope to see you there!

On Friday Morning we will have our Leader of the Month Flag salute assemblies. These will be held this year in the Multi-Purpose room where we will celebrate TK-2nd grades from 8:15-8:45 and 3rd-5th from 8:45-9:15.

We are excited that our TK playground is now open for student use. Our other playgrounds should be open soon. If you have a child in TK, beginning tomorrow we will open the gate near the TK classrooms at 8 AM so students can be dropped off directly at the playground. Drop off early than 8 or if your child is going to eat breakfast, will continue to be at the MPR.

On Wednesdays we will have Nichols Spirit days. Wear Nichols gear or wear blue!

The BASE PROGRAM provides Before & After School care. If you are interested in enrolling your Child, please contact them through their website.

We are so thrilled with out STEAM program. STEAM stands for Science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. We have Ms. Pauels who teaches the STEM parts of STEAM and Ms. Harmon who teaches Art. Check out the STEAM Newsletter for the latest information.

Oceanside Unified School District has partnered with Care Solace to help families in need of mental health support. This services can help quickly find available services. To access this service call 888-515-0595 or visit their website at www.caresolace.com/ousd. If you have any questions about this or other school counseling services please reach out.

We know there are times when issues come up that need to be resolved. OUSD has created a chain of communication that allows for an efficient resolution process. This is now located on our school’s website under “Our School” called Chain of Communication.
