MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
CHS COMMUNITY,
I have always been impressed with the response of Chardon students. Lately, however, we have seen an increase in administrative conferences regarding multiple cell phone violations. This is a significant change from the beginning of the year, and we need to correct this trend.
The rule is simple: from 7:45 AM to 2:40 PM, all cell phones must be off and put away. We have been providing verbal reminders and asking students to power down their devices when we see them being used. Beginning next week, this grace period will end, and office-based consequences will be issued for any violation.
Being prepared for daily tasks is an important life skill. We are seeing an increase in students seeking loaner Chromebooks or coming to school with an uncharged device. A few reminders of our Chromebook guidelines are listed below:
Bring your Chromebook and charger to school every day.
Charge your Chromebook at home each night.
Chromebook Guidelines:
Repairs: Students turning in Chromebooks must wipe them down inside and out (especially the screen & keyboard).
Charging: Chromebooks may be charged in the charging cart.
Loaners are only given if the Chromebook is in for repair.
Exceptions apply for testing situations.
Chargers: We do not loan Chromebook chargers.
Lost chargers can be purchased from Mrs. Koehler for $20 (paid upfront or added to school fees).
Broken/non-working chargers can be exchanged at no cost.
Loaners:
If a student forgets their loaner Chromebook, they should first try to have a parent bring it in.
If that’s not possible, we may issue a loaner (depending on availability).
Incident Form:
Please include specific details of the problem or what is broken.
Use your first and last name exactly as it appears in Infinite Campus.
Ensure all writing is clear and legible.
Important Reminders
To help with traffic flow and safety, please be aware of the following reminders:
All Athletes/After School Programs: When you return to school for after-school practice/meetings, do not park in the spots directly around the building. You must park in the student lot to avoid causing additional congestion during a high-traffic time.
Parking Passes: All cars parked in the student lot must have a 2025-26 parking pass displayed in the window.
Parking Boundaries: All cars must be parked inside the yellow parking pillars. The first two rows of the student lot are reserved for Senior Mentors and parking passes in this are must be between the numbers 1-40.
Parking Enforcement: Moving forward, student-specific "tickets/citations" will be issued for illegally parked cars or vehicles without a pass displayed.
Enjoy your weekend!
Mr. Tomco

MORE POSITIVE FEEDBACK.....
I am the mother of one of the Cleveland Heights girls' soccer player. On Thursday, August 28th we played Chardon at home at Denison Park in Cleveland Heights. Unfortunately, my daughter tore her ACL and meniscus and fractured her femur and tibia. She is absolutely devastated as this is her senior year. She received a card and gift card in the mail from your girls' soccer team and I just wanted to email you both to let you know how much that meant to her. Sending a card and gift to a total stranger on an opposing team, shows such amazing sportsmanship and kindness. I was truly blown away at the messages that the girls and coaches wrote. I just wanted to personally acknowledge this and let you know how amazing your girls are for caring.
COFFEE CAFE
We’re excited to announce the grand opening of the Chardon High School Coffee Café on Wednesday, September 17! The café will be open each morning 7:20-9:20 AM in the cafeteria for students to purchase coffee and other drinks before starting their day.
Students can make purchases using funds loaded onto their school account (the same system used in the cafeteria).
We look forward to providing students with a warm, welcoming space to start their mornings and can’t wait to see you at Chardon's Coffee Café!
