January 26, 2025
Good Morning,
January is a time when our students learn all about the farm. Learning to identify farm animals and the sounds they make, counting and sorting farm animals, and exploring the types of machines used for the crops on the farm. Story titles include: Welcome to the Farm, What is a Farm, In the Barnyard, and From the Farm to You, just to name a few. Students love to learn about the farm. Consider finding a good book about the farm at the library or ask your child to draw a farm animal at home, ask your child about the different sounds animals make.
Parking and and Student Safety :
A reminder when picking up your student at the end of the school day, please do not park in the Town Hall lots. Families should be using the driveway in front of the Adams School or the lot next to the horseshoe driveway. We ask that you avoid parking on Academy Ave. It is not safe to have cars parked on both sides of the road, as it makes the roadway too narrow for other cars looking to pass. Students should always be on the sidewalk and holding an adult's hand when walking to the car. We want all of our students and families to be safe!
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Registration Information:
Last week families received a letter in your child's folder with information about placement for the 2025/2026 school year. Please read the letter carefully, complete the back, and return it to school no later than FRIDAY, JANUARY 24th.
If you child is returning to WECC, please indicate your first choice for a program for next year. Programs will fill up quickly and spots are filled based on first forms to arrive will be the first students to be placed into those programs.
If you plan on registering a sibling, please indicate that on the form and include the child's name. Families may now go onto the Family Connection site and complete the first portion of registration. Once you have completed the online portion of registration you may call WECC starting on January 27th to schedule an appointment for the 2nd part of registration. At the time of the appointment, you will make your program selection. Registration is complete and a program is confirmed once the registration process is complete and the $50 registration fee is paid.
If your child is moving on to Kindergarten, please indicate that on the form. Students attending Kindergarten at WPS will attend 5 full days, you do not need to register for Kindergarten, and we will handle transferring the records to your child's primary school.

About this Series
The Backpack Connection Series was created by TACSEI to provide a way for teachers and parents/caregivers to work together to help young children develop social emotional skills and reduce challenging behavior.
Each Backpack Connection handout provides information that helps parents stay informed about what their child is learning at school and specific ideas on how to use the strategy or skill at home

I'm a Super Reader
Help us reach our goal of 10,000 books
One of the most important gifts we can give our children is to help them learn to read and write so that they can succeed in school and beyond. Confident, active readers are able to use their reading skills to follow their passions and curiosity about the world. We all read for a purpose: to be entertained, to take a journey of the imagination, to connect with others, to figure out how to do something, and to learn about history, science, the arts, and everything else.
We hope to foster the love of reading in our students. Please help us by helping your child read each day. Attached is a reading chart that your child can color each time they read a book. Bring the reading chart to school once all apples are colored and your child will receive a Super Reader sticker. You may choose to only read 10 books per month or submit as many reading charts as you want. We will be keeping track by classroom. If JECC students reach the goal of 10,000 books, we will have a Bubble party at the end of the year.
Help our students reach their goal!
