The Weekly Lion Review
RUSHVILLE CONSOLIDATED HIGH SCHOOL
WEEK 27
What an amazing week!!!! It takes the whole family to do everything we do at RCHS and do it on a high level!! Thank you to all of our staff for working together to get the SAT testing completed. Thank you Mrs. Meek for the hard work that you put into that day. We started the week finding out Lanea Adams won the District speech meet and qualified for Nationals in Iowa this summer!! We ended our week by hosting the I-Star dinner and ceremony. I will have all the coverage of that in next week's review. Have a great weekend and IT'S ALMOST MONDAY!!!!
NEW PROGRAM
RCHS Work-Based Learning Programs
Did you know that RCHS has two work-based learning programs for seniors? The ICE program is designed for students to attend classes at RCHS half day and the other half is spent at a paying job that will help prepare them for their career. Our work-based learning coordinator, Mrs. Julie Wainwright, will assist in placing students in jobs in various career fields of interest.
Our Internship program is similar to our ICE program in many ways, but the position the student is placed in is non-paid. This program is used to gain experience and exposure to careers in which students may not be able to get a paid position due to age or experience. Some examples of career fields for internships are:
Veterinary medicine, human resources, banking, and engineering.
INDIANA COLLEGE CORE AT RCHS
What does ICC Cost?
Senate Bill 8 is currently passing through legislation that states that high schools need to offer the Indiana College Core by 2024-25 school year. RCHS is proud to say that we are ALREADY doing this and at $0 cost for our students! All of our ICC classes are given in person with no additional charges for the student. We have qualified dual credit certified teachers that are teaching these courses. RCHS is ahead of the curve and we are extremely lucky to have resources like Chris Bottomly and our guidance staff to help our students achieve this!
GREATNESS FROM STAFF AND STUDENTS
Staff Members of the Month
T.R. and Heather Campbell are absolutely AMAZING at what they do. They are considered the dynamic duo of RCHS!! They put in countless hours into the music department and love every second of it. When they took over the band program at RCHS there were around 30 members. This year they had 71 members in band and the concerts they put on are incredible. Congratulations to both T.R. and Heather on this well deserved honor!!
Students of the Month
This month was very special to us at RCHS. We were able to honor four amazing Junior students that decided to take something on that was much bigger then themselves. Dana Durbin and Izzy Pavey were the creators of the bench project to honor Tanner Harrison and Valerie Tindall who's lives were tragically cut short. This project that seemed to develop a lot of momentum is far from over and they quickly brought Carter Barnes and Adrian Apodaca on board. They are now cleaning and separating 1700 pounds of plastic caps and then have to deliver them to Evansville and pick up the benches. Many other aspects of this project will still need completed. Individually these four Juniors are incredible humans. Put them together and they are an unstoppable force!! Congratulations to all of you and thank you for teaching our school and community what four juniors from RCHS can accomplish!!
Deputy Doyle!!!!
Dr. Doyle took on a new role during SAT testing. Deputy of the RCHS Hallways!! Not one kid got by without being questioned. This was by far the safest our hallways have been all year!!!!
