School Resource Officer's (SRO) Therapy Puppy Naming Contest
We are extremely excited to announce a new addition to our Mount Vernon Middle School family! Allow us to introduce you to "Girl" who will serve our students as a therapy dog for years to come.
Our SRO, Officer Armstrong debuted his 8-week old, Bernedoodle pup on January 4, 2022. As you might imagine, she was a HUGE hit with the students. "Girl" is awaiting her new name at the end of our Puppy Naming Contest to see which school raised the most money and the opportunity to assist Officer Armstrong in naming her.
Officer Armstrong is hosting a competition that will run from January 3-14 between the KCCC, the High School, and the Middle School to see which school can raise the most money towards a local animal charity. The school to accomplish this goal will get to assist him in the naming of the puppy.
The Middle School really wants to name that puppy. We are doing an outstanding job so far with $1,723 raised thus far, with the 6th graders in the lead with a total of $1,153 and the 7th graders trailing behind with $560. (Totals calculated as of 1/5/22).
The individual charities per grade level are as follows:
6th grade - Dogs of Knox Fund Inc.
7th Grade - The Friends of the Knox County Animal Shelter
8th Grade - The Underdog Society
The fundraising thermometer below will be measuring our efforts as an entire school.
