Dear HMS Families,

We had a wonderful week back after spring break. Monday was pretty rough for everyone, but by the end of the week everyone seemed to be back to normal. Wherever your adventures may have taken you, we hope you had a great time.

Next week we have our 3rd spirit week of the year AND our spring dance! We are looking forward to seeing what kinds of outfits everyone comes up with. You can find more information about these two events below.

Our track season started this week with some pretty wild weather! We have 85 student athletes out for track and it's amazing to see all of them out there practicing together. The picture above is some of our athletes seeking refuge from a hail storm they were caught in.

State testing is coming up quickly. Testing will run from May 20th - June 8th, please see the testing schedule pictured below. Our teachers have been preparing our students for success all year long and are practicing applying their skills to practice SBA tests. We are excited for our students to be able to show what they know and do their personal best.

We operate on a block schedule during SBA testing. You can find our SBA bell schedule HERE.

It has been a cold and wet start to the week at track practice but we have 85 athletes participating this season who have not let the weather stop them. Our athletes and coaches have been working extremely hard this week and are looking forward to hosting our only two home meets on Monday 4/27 and Wednesday 4/29.

Volunteers Needed - If you are interested in volunteering at our two upcoming home track meets please email Mrs. Broten (janice.broten@hocksd.org). We appreciate your willingness to help and look forward to seeing you at a track meet this spring!

Our district is participating in a parent survey from Washington’s Office of Superintendent of

Public Instruction (OSPI). If your child is receiving special education services, you received an email on March 24th.

This short survey is anonymous, and it’s a great way for you to share your thoughts,

suggestions, and feedback about your child’s educational experience. OSPI will use the results

to measure parent engagement in the state and share them with our district to help improve our

parent engagement efforts.

Please watch for the survey and take a moment to fill it out. Your feedback is important to us

and helps improve programs and services for children with disabilities. Thank you for being an

active part of your child's education!

If you haven't purchased a yearbook yet, I encourage you to consider purchasing one for your child. Yearbooks are important keepsakes for students and are incredibly important to them every year. The picture below will provide you with the purchasing information. May 4th is the last day to order for shipment to HMS.

Every year Hockinson School District organizes and participates in an Earth Day clean up. We hope you will consider joining us for this fun event. We are looking to spruce up our front garden patch that overlooks the track and also spruce up the front space. More information can be found below. We hope to see you there!
