Principal's Corner
It has been a busy time at Hamilton Intermediate, filled with hands-on learning and Ranger pride. Our 4th graders have been diving into Ohio's past through fossil exploration, while 5th-grade Principal's Honor Roll students applied their knowledge of the states of matter to ice skating at the Lou and Gib Ice Arena. We are especially proud of our schoolwide focus on leadership; in February, we celebrated students who know how to "Synergize," and throughout March, we are encouraging everyone to "Sharpen the Saw" by staying balanced and healthy. Beyond their core studies, students have practiced empathy by creating Valentine's cards for patients at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and explored diverse cultures during our Lunar New Year assembly. As we look toward the coming weeks, please mark your calendars for the PTO friendship bracelet sale from March 16–20 and prepare for state testing beginning in mid-April. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping every student shine!
With Ranger Pride,
Kelly Altiers

Fossil Fun in 4th Grade!
Presenters from Franklin County Soil and Water came to teach our 4th graders more about Ohio's past. Our ELA classes are currently learning about geology and these presenters expanded on this knowledge by giving students the opportunity to look at fossils up close, categorize fossils, and more! This hands-on learning experience made our unit of study more relevant and relatable!
Seat Belts, Everyone!!
The fifth-grade Principal’s Honor Roll students had the exciting opportunity to attend a field trip to the Lou and Gib Ice Arena. During their visit, students not only learned how to ice skate, but also explored the states of matter and discovered how changes in water make it possible to create and maintain an ice rink. It was a fun, hands-on learning experience, and the students had an amazing time!
Rocking Good Time
Students in Mrs. Thompson's science classes worked their way through different mineral property stations to test and identify different types of rocks and minerals. The kids really enjoyed this activity, and it really got them looking at rocks in different ways.
Honoring Black History Month
Students recognized Black History Month by learning about influential members of the Black community and their important contributions to our country and the world. Through discussions and activities, students explored how these leaders created positive change and continue to inspire others today.
Unified Arts
Learning Empathy, Sharing Kindness
In Successful Habits, students discussed empathy and sympathy and why understanding others’ feelings is an important part of leadership and kindness. After their discussion, students put their learning into action by creating Valentine’s cards for patients at Nationwide Children's Hospital. This meaningful activity allowed students to practice compassion while spreading encouragement and joy to others in our community.

Leaders of the Month
February Leaders of the Month
In February, we celebrated students who know how to Synergize — they work well with others, value different ideas, and understand that teamwork leads to better results. These leaders listen, collaborate, and show respect, helping their teams succeed together every day!
March Leaders of the Month
In March, we are celebrating students who practice Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw! These leaders take time to care for their bodies, minds, hearts, and spirits so they can be their best each day. They work to stay balanced by learning new things, staying active, helping others, and making healthy choices. By taking care of themselves, they are better prepared to learn, lead, and grow.
Families can encourage this habit at home by helping their child build healthy routines such as getting enough sleep, spending time reading, playing outside or being active, talking about their feelings, and setting aside time to relax or enjoy a favorite hobby. Small daily habits can help students stay balanced and ready to succeed!
Lighthouse Team
Learning Leadership at the District Office
The Student Lighthouse Team traveled to the district office to meet with district administration. During their visit, students learned about the district’s organizational chart and the responsibilities of different leadership roles. They had the opportunity to speak with the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, Technology Director, Chief Academic Officer, Director of Special Education, Director of Operations, and Public Relations Director. This experience helped students better understand how the district works together to support schools and student success while also giving them valuable insight into what strong leadership looks like and how leaders collaborate to make important decisions.
Student Led Morning Announcements
Our Lighthouse Team has begun leading the morning announcements each day. This opportunity helps students strengthen their leadership by taking responsibility for an important schoolwide role and serving as positive role models for their peers. Delivering the announcements also builds valuable speaking skills, including reading with expression, speaking clearly, projecting confidence, and communicating information to a large audience. Students are proud to help keep our school informed while practicing real-world communication and leadership skills.
Culture Club
Celebrating Lunar New Year
Students enjoyed a special school assembly celebrating Lunar New Year. The program included an exciting dragon dance, the story behind the Lunar New Year tradition, a student-friendly martial arts demonstration and lesson, and traditional music. This engaging experience helped students learn about the history, culture, and celebrations of Lunar New Year while enjoying a fun and memorable performance together as a school community.
