Students in Ms. Whalen's 8th grade science class built their own monsters this week as they studied genetics! They used coin-flipping to determine the genotypes and phenotypes of their monsters, then plugged their answers into a spreadsheet that built their baby monster. Possible traits included two eyes or four eyes, teal fur or purple fur, teeth or no teeth, and much more! Look how cute they are!

What is a life lesson you've learned from playing sports:
Success comes with a price that's bigger than what most people are willing to pay.
Within sports and generally just within life, you get exactly what you put in. Your level of effort will equal your level of results (Conservation of energy as I like to think). From my experiences of success, whether this is a huge 1st place finish or a new record - whatever the case is - Success is very holistic. The destination is not the only meaningful part. Success is an entire experience, and when you go for it, you are signing up for everything. Enjoy it.
What's your biggest strength as an athlete: My mentality
Former Carver athlete you look up to: Jocko Ronney
Favorite sports quote (if you have one): βIf you don't have the mental capacity to be obsessed with what you're trying to get - then you're never going to get it. β- CT Fletcher
Do you plan on playing college athletics and have you committed anywhere: I am going to run Division I Track, I will be committing very soon.
