Message from Administration
What an amazing first full week of school!
Our students have jumped right into learning, building friendships, and showing leadership in every corner of the building. A huge thank you to our PTA for planning such a fun and memorable Back to School Bash! Your hard work made this event a true celebration for our entire school community. We also want to thank our wonderful volunteers who gave their time and energy to help make the Bash a success. Whether you were setting up, helping during the event, or cleaning up afterward, your support made all the difference. We are grateful for the teamwork, energy, and enthusiasm that kicked off our year in the best way possible!

Back to School Bash
A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers and PTA for making our Back to School Bash such a wonderful success! From the fun activities to the delicious pizza and the sense of community all around, the night was truly a hit. We are so grateful for the time, energy, and spirit you poured into this event. It was the perfect way to kick off the school year and celebrate together as a Greathouse family. Check out more pictures on our social media.
Keep the Pride Moving: Car Rider Tips
A big THANK YOU to our Greathouse families! We truly appreciate your patience and teamwork in the car rider line. Your efforts to keep tags hanging or placed in the center of the windshield, always turning right in and out of the property, and carefully listening to our staff make dismissal smoother for everyone.
Two Lanes in Morning
You’ve mastered the merge at the loop in the afternoon with support of staff. Now let’s try it in the morning. Starting Monday, cars will use both lanes and need to merge at the back of the loop just like they do in the afternoon, only without an adult there to guide. This will help us get more cars on campus and keep traffic moving off Browns Lane in the morning.
Move with Purpose
To keep things running smoothly in the afternoon we need everyone to move into car lanes and exit them with steady, confident motion. Quick transitions while loading and pulling out help keep the line moving for all and prevent long delays. With your support, we can make dismissal safe, smooth, and much faster.
Late Pickups
Starting Monday: If you arrive on campus after 3:50, you will need to park your car, come inside, and sign your child out. Please remember that our office closes at 4:00 PM and we do not have staff available to supervise children after that time.
If you are running late or have an emergency, please call the office to let us know. Families who accumulate multiple late pickups will be asked to meet with administration. Our goal this year is to have all students loaded into cars and off campus by 3:45. We will continue to tweak and work to make that goal a reality with your help.

Lions Lead with Attendance
Week August 11-15
Attendance matters! Missing six or more days can make it harder for students to keep up with lessons, master skills, and feel confident in class. Likewise, frequent tardies interrupt learning and can set students behind before the day even begins or ends. Being present and on time helps every Lion stay on track and succeed.

After School Activities
New Clubs for 2025-2026
We’re excited to offer a variety of afterschool clubs at Greathouse! Joining a club gives your student a chance to explore new interests, gain enrichment, and stay after school a little longer—helping you avoid the car rider line and traffic rush.
This year, we’re proud to introduce brand-new clubs including: Strengths Mentoring Club, Drama by George, Presto Strings, Russian School of Mathematics, Ace Tennis, Sports Spectacular, and Fast Break Basketball.
Encourage your student to find a club that sparks their passion and roar with pride! Hurry spots are limited and some offer discounts for signing up early.
Russian School of Mathematics
We are excited to partner with RSM to bring their classes to our school. If you have questions or more information, please reach out to the company.
New This Year – Rainbow Club!
We’re excited to introduce the Rainbow Club — a welcoming space for families to connect, celebrate who we are, and enjoy a fun activity together. It’s all about building community, embracing diversity, and making memories. Our first meeting will be August 28 4-5pm. Families must RSVP and send in a change of transportation note. Students will stay after school and families will meet in the library together. Don't worry if you can't make this one! We will host them monthly at different times and locations.

Kindness Kickoff Week Continues
Enemy Pie
It was the perfect summer. That is, until Jeremy Ross moved into the house down the street and became neighborhood enemy number one. Luckily, Dad had a surefire way to get rid of enemies: Enemy Pie. But part of the secret recipe is spending an entire day playing with the enemy!
Mango, Abuela & Me
Mia’s abuela has left her sunny house with parrots and palm trees to live with Mia and her parents in the city. While they cook, Mia helps Abuela learn English, and Mia learns some Spanish, too, but it’s still hard for Abuela to learn enough words to tell Mia her stories. Then Mia sees a parrot in the pet-shop window and has the perfecto idea for how to help them all communicate a little better. Here is an endearing tale that speaks loud and clear about the love that binds families across the generations.
Be Kind
When Tanisha spills grape juice all over her new dress, her classmate wants to make her feel better, wondering: What does it mean to be kind?
From asking the new girl to play to standing up for someone being bullied, this moving story explores what kindness is, and how any act, big or small, can make a difference―or at least help a friend.

Kentucky State Fair
Online form is available here.
Per Kentucky Revised Statute 159.035(4), students applying for an excused absence to attend the Kentucky State Fair shall be granted one (1) day of excused absence. Take a look at this document for the full statute. This policy was put in place in a response to the conflict of starting school earlier and impacting the Fair.
When you submit this application, we will email you a form that contains the necessary details to provide to the teacher or administration at your school. Unless your school requires it, a signature from a fair employee is not required.
