What do I do with all this candy? Make it count!

🍬Got a pile of candy from the weekend? Turn it into a week of math fun!

Starting Monday, November 2nd, try one activity each day through Friday. You’ll practice math and make your candy last longer. No candy? Cereal, pasta, or small toys work just as well.

Math Candy Week:

🔢
Monday: Estimate. Guess how many pieces you have, then count to check. How close were you?

➕ Tuesday: Sort and count. Sort your candy by color or type. Count each group.

📊 Wednesday: Graph it. Make a bar graph or tally chart of your candy types.

🟰 Thursday: Group it. Make equal groups or an array (for example, 4 rows of 5).

➗ Friday: Share it. Create a story problem about sharing your candy with family or friends.

Make it just right for your Elkster:

  • PreK–1: Count your candy and write the numbers. Find the group with more and the group with less.
  • Grades 2–5: Write a multiplication or division sentence for your array, or find what fraction of your candy is chocolate.

Show us your math!

📷Take a picture of your candy math or draw it on paper. Both count!

Share it by Friday, November 6, and every Elkster who participates gets a math tattoo or sticker.

  1. Online: Upload a photo of your math or your drawing here: https://forms.gle/j8tE7sL3bg9rkjdL6
  2. On paper: Bring your drawing or written math to your teacher.
