Ms. Pelayo ~ GRCTC Dental Assisting
Classroom expectations - be respectful, responsible, and have fun!
School rules - Students will abide by all school rules found in the GISD Student Handbook and Code of Conduct and the Dental Class Packet. Some of the big ones for class are:
School ID - Every student MUST wear their school ID at GRCTC with the teal lanyard. You may NOT put it away once you enter the center - it must be worn around your neck the whole time on campus.
Hand Sanitizer must be used used upon entering and exiting the classroom. "Gel in and out".
NO food or drinks in the classroom, other than bottled water.
NO personal grooming in the classroom (applying makeup, fragrance, brushing hair)
Personal devices such as cell phone, smart watches, ear buds, and home campus issued Chromebooks are not allowed to be used in the classroom. You will be assigned a classroom laptop.
Charging your personal phone/personal devices are not allowed.
Respect - Students will be respectful and considerate of others at all times.
Class Ambassadors - Assigned students will guide visitors touring the center in our classroom about these facts.
Tardies
You WILL be marked tardy if:
You are not in the classroom when the tardy bell rings.
You MAY be marked tardy if:
You are not doing Bell Ringer Work by the time the I am taking attendance.
You move to another seat without permission during class.
You wander around the room during class.
Absent - You must inform me in advance if you are not going to be in class. You will know what you missed by looking at the daily agenda that is linked in Canvas. Please remember to turn in an excuse note to the main GRCTC office. You are also responsible for your missed bell ringer work before you return to class.
Home Campus Duties - If you must remain at your home campus during our class time, you will be marked absent if you are not already "field-tripped" out. It will be your responsibility to notify the home campus attendance clerk since GRCTC does not have one.
Loss of Credit (LOC) - Remember you can only miss 4 classes (excused and/or unexcused) per semester (90% Law) since our class is double-booked.
Failing - You must attend mandatory tutorials before or after class and/or attend mandatory GRCTC Saturday School. Sign up here.
Out sick - follow these protocols.
- Speaker announcements must be heard by everyone. No talking during this time.
- Classroom equipment and supplies are to be respected at all times. There is a zero tolerance policy for not following instructions and station protocols. Safety first!
