Dear Hamilton Middle School Families and Staff,

I am pleased to share that Terri Anderson will be serving as the Interim Principal of Hamilton International Middle School during Dr. Marshall's leave.

Terri brings a wealth of educational experience spanning preschool through high school settings, having served students, educators, and families in both urban and rural school communities. Throughout her career, she has held roles in teaching, instructional coaching, and leadership at both the school and district levels. These experiences have shaped her strong belief in the power of excellent teaching, meaningful relationships, and schools that create opportunities for every student.

Terri holds undergraduate degrees in Biology/Chemistry and Education, as well as a master's degree in School Administration. Her leadership work has focused on strengthening instructional practices, supporting highly capable and gifted education, implementing restorative practices, and developing comprehensive student support systems.

A passionate advocate for inclusive school communities, Terri is committed to ensuring that all students feel valued, supported, and challenged. She believes every student deserves access to a rigorous and engaging education, coupled with the individualized support necessary to reach their full potential. Her work is grounded in fostering belonging, celebrating diverse perspectives, and maintaining high expectations for all learners.

Originally from Washington, Terri has lived in the Seattle area for the past six years. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with family, staying active, cooking, and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Please join me in welcoming Terri Anderson to the Hamilton community. We are grateful for her leadership and look forward to her partnership with students, staff, and families during this time.

Sincerely,

Dr. Katrina M. Hunt, PhD

Spirit Assembly

Our spirit assembly this Friday afternoon, was filled with excitement and school pride as students arrived in a colorful crowd of costumes! Our affinity groups shared updates about the great things they are doing around Hamilton, and our school band brought energy to the room with some fantastic music. Students and staff enjoyed a costume contest judged by ASB, along with some hilarious games, including using air-filled balloons to blow cups off tables and a balloon-popping relay race.

Beyond the costumes and friendly competition, the assembly was also an opportunity to celebrate 100 years of Hamilton history! As we reflected on a century of community and school spirit, we were reminded that the students walking our halls today are continuing to make history and shape the next 100 years of Hamilton!

STAMP Language Proficiency Testing for 8th Graders

Does your 8th grade student listen, read, write, and speak another language proficiently? If so, they may be able to take the STAMP language proficiency test for an opportunity to earn high school credits. The STAMP will be offered in the Hamilton library during the school day the week of March 29. Learn more about STAMP Language Proficiency Testing for 8th graders. There is no cost to test. To register your student, reach out to Ms. Stratton at clstratton@seattleschools.org. Include their name and the language they would like to test in. Current 8th grade Japanese and Spanish immersion students do not need to sign up; they will be automatically registered and will test with their classmates.

Reminder From the Attendance Office

If your student needs to be dismissed early from school, please contact the attendance office ahead of time.

Email hamiltonms.attendance@seattleschools.org or call 206-252-5814.

Please provide the following information: student's name and time of departure. Also indicate if your student is allowed to sign themselves out and meet you outside the building or if you will be coming to the attendance office to sign your student out.

Making these arrangements ahead of time limits interruptions to classroom instruction and expedites your student's early departure.

Continue to contact attendance if your student is arriving late, is home due to illness or you have a preplanned absence. We greatly appreciate your assistance with this.

From the School Nurse:

Parents of 7th graders: vision and hearing screenings will be happening for all 7th graders in the next couple of months, the goal dates are the week of Thanksgiving. This is a state required screening. Please make sure if your student wears glasses or contacts, that they are wearing them at school. Thank you!
