Dear Families,

Get ready – Crane Book Fairs is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits – including academic success and improved mental health.

Here's everything you need to know about the Book Fair:

Dates: Friday, October 18, 2024 – Wednesday, October 23, 2024

Location: AAA Library

Family Event schedule: Trunk-or-Treat Friday, October 18, 2024, 5:30pm-7:30pm in the library

Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at the book fair. I hope you’ll join your child at our school’s fair and share a reading experience they’ll remember forever. However, if you are unable to visit with your student, you can still help our school earn cash or books for our library by purchasing books by going online:

Go to: https://cranebookfairs.com/ to order books

Click the tab: Shop the Online Book Fair

Add items to your cart & check out

Looking for a certain title? Click the search icon to help find the book faster.

When checking out: You must choose your School in the drop-down box. Make sure to add your Child’s Name & Homeroom

*Parents you will have the option to ship to the school or to your home address. We offer free shipping for all orders over $40.00 or orders being shipped to the school.

Thank you for supporting our school and Happy Reading!

Mrs. Stricklin

Stricklin - Regular ELA - Next week students will have assignments on Google Classroom, StudySync, ReadWorks, AcceleratedReader (AR), and i-Ready.

  • i-Ready - Students are required to complete 50 minutes of i-Ready Reading and two passed lessons.

  • ReadWorks is articles for them to read and answer questions. When there is an option, students only have to choose one article to read.

  • Accelerated Reader (AR) - Students need to be reading and taking AR tests. The only way to grow in reading comprehension is to practice. The minimum requirements are: If the book is 100+ pages, they need to take a test at least every two weeks. If the book is less than 100 pages, they need to take a test every week. This goal will change as we get rolling.

  • StudySync -

    • First Read: The Good Samaritan

      • After an initial reading and discussion of “The Good Samaritan,” students will be able to identify and describe character traits and setting details as well as articulate the conflict that is integral to the story’s plot.

    • Skill: Summarizing

      • After rereading and discussing a model of close reading, students will be able to provide a summary of the text free of personal opinions or judgments.

    • Close Read: The Good Samaritan

      • After engaging in a close reading and discussion of "The Good Samaritan," students will be able to summarize in order to participate in a collaborative conversation and write a short constructed response.
