Every Day is a New Adventure! Every Day is a New Adventure!

MAP Testing Dates

4th grade will be MAP testing the week of May 6th. Testing is usually complete by lunch time. It would be a big help if you could look ahead and make sure there are no doctor, dentist, ortho, etc appointments in the AM of that week. If you do, please consider rescheduling for the afternoon or another week as students will have to be pulled to make up the sessions they missed. Also, students who come to school late will not be able to come to the classroom until their class is done testing that day, which will also cause the student to have to be pulled for makeup testing.

Thanks for your help!

More information will come closer to testing time.

Next Week's Focus

Math-We will finish up decimals as they relate to fractions and we will begin the study guide for the fractions test, which is set to be taken on Tuesday, February 27th.

Science/Social Studies-Next week we will learn about the Sugar, Stamp, and Townshend Acts. We will also learn about the Boston Massacre and take a day to mid week to write about one of the causes we have learned about so far.

ELA-In reading, the students will finish up their current skills. The class will also write an opinion piece on puppy raisers in response to their story this week. The class will then begin their new story, Hercules' Quest. The skills for this story are theme, allusions, adages & proverbs, and the prefixes re-; un-; and dis-. In writing class, the students will continue on our narrative as we begin the next part, plot development.

Homework

This year, we will not have planners. Some students don't always get their assignments done in class and may need to take it home for homework. If this is the case for math or any other class, you will receive an email from the teacher the work is due in.

Google Classroom

Parents,

Some are requesting how to get on Google Classroom at home, whether for homework purposes, to help with studying, or just to check in. The easiest way for parents is to just use your child's account. Add their school account to your device using their email and password. Then you and/or students should have access-as long as you are logged onto their account. You do NOT need a code. If you are needing one, then you have not logged into the child's account. They have already entered the code and joined the classroom. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding Google Classroom.

Thanks

Absent Students

When your child is absent for any reason, all assignments for the day will be posted on google classroom. The student will need to go to each google classroom for each core subject (ELA, Math, Social Studies/Science) and complete the assignment for that day. They get one day to complete the assignment per day they are absent. For example, if they are absent on a Monday, their work is due on a Wednesday. If your child is absent and cannot access google classroom, please send us an email so we can get copies made for them. If you have questions about this process, just let us know.
