Buying Math Pets
This week we had the pleasure of purchasing math pets. Each student divided a provided budget into three categories that included cost of pet, living space, and care expenses. They then selected and purchased pets of their choice. Using grid paper they plotted the necessary living spaces for each pet. Then calculated the area and perimeter in order to purchase flooring and fencing. They then budgeted for food, water, vet visits and more. It was a fun way to practice division, multiplication, area and perimeter. Our next topic of study will be fractions. More information coming soon...
