Pastor Rich's Weekly Devotional
Choices!
“I call heaven and earth
to witness to you today
that I have set before you life and death,
blessings and curses.
life so that you and your descendants
may live.”
(Deuteronomy 30:19)
To be alive is to make choices every minute of every day – choices that are big and small, important and routine, difficult and easy. Some choices can be made without much thought; others require hours of prayerful consideration. Sometimes we decide to let others make choices for us. If you not to decide you still have made a choice. Even avoiding a decision is a choice.
Our choices define who we are and whose we are. The choices we make are often influenced by life experiences and indicate something about our goals and expectations. Our choices reflect our worldview and our understanding of what it means to belong to God.
Our relationships with God, with everyone else in the world, and with all of creation both affect and are affected by our choices.
Stewardship is about making choices, as individuals and in community. It is about being faithful disciples, caring for and managing all that God has given us in terms of our time, our abilities, and our financial resources. Stewardship is not just one part of Christian discipleship; it involves every aspect of life in all stages of life.
That is, the time I devote to Christian leadership may be greater at one point in life while less at another. My witness for Christ is constant throughout life, but the time I offer to organize, teach, and lead may differ as decades pass. My abilities to serve in a variety of roles will differ over the course of life. Financial resources increase or decrease over time. Faithful stewardship involves every aspect of life in all stages of life.
Stewardship is the grateful response to God’s grace and goodness. It requires a consideration of how our choices affect us and others, how we can be faithful managers of the gift of God’s church in our generation, and how we can best serve God as disciples of Christ.
Thank you for your thoughtful, prayerful, and faithful stewardship.

Announcements
Fall has started, colors are changing, and pumpkins are on display.
The financial books for the third quarter of 2025 have been closed and reported. Your OLCCP financial statements have been mailed. Please review.
The total income to the Church through September 31 this year was $414,688, with operational expenses, including mission, totaling $458,732. That results in a current deficit of $(44,044). We are a little concerned but not in a panic. Funds from our investment portfolios continue to be available to offset this temporary condition.
The giving pattern of this church typically increases from October to December, and I firmly believe this will hold true this year.
The Stewardship campaign for the 2026 fiscal year is in full swing, Sharing God’s Gifts for God’s Glory, and I encourage you to review your planned donations to the church. You can return your pledge cards this Sunday, October 26th, or go online to the OLCCP website and indicate your commitment via the portal starting Monday, 10/27.
Thank you, and God Bless
