Miscoe Hill Newsletter
October 19, 2026

Ms. Corron's Corner
Dear Miscoe Families,
In today’s newsletter, you’ll find sign-ups for 2026-2027 Conferences, which will be held on November 9th and 10th. Conferences are an opportunity to meet with your student’s team of teachers and check in on their progress in class. While we would love enough time to meet with all families, our conference time is limited. We encourage you to sign up for a conference to discuss your student's progress - especially if you have questions or concerns. If your schedule is tight or your student is off to a smooth start, a quick email check-in is also a great option. Please don’t be discouraged if the times fill up quickly - we will do our very best to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend. If you are not able to reserve a time slot, please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher. Thank you for your understanding and support!
Spotlight On: New Curriculum Resource in ELA!
This school year, our 5th through 8th grade ELA teachers will be implementing new curriculum programs from Amplify. Our district selected these evidence-based programs after careful consideration and a successful pilot, and we are very excited to see the positive impact they will have on our students’ growth as readers, writers, and thinkers.
Grade 5: Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA)
In 5th grade, students will use Amplify CKLA, a program designed so that learning to read and reading to learn develop together. Through rich, carefully sequenced texts, students build deep content area knowledge while mastering core reading and writing skills. We are also grateful to incorporate Amplify Caminos into our 5th grade Spanish Immersion classes - a rich and engaging Spanish language arts program with high-quality instructional materials that allow our students to continue developing their Spanish literacy while engaging with meaningful, grade-level content.
Grades 6-8: Amplify ELA
In grades 6-8, students transition to Amplify ELA, a flexible program combining digital and print materials that encourages students to engage with interesting ideas and find personal relevance in complex texts. Through engaging daily lessons, middle schoolers will:
Read text passages closely and interpret what they find.
Discuss and debate their thinking with peers.
Develop their ideas through expressive, structured writing.
One of the best ways you can support your child in both programs is simply asking them about the texts they are reading in class and encouraging them to share their perspective on the topics they're exploring! We are excited to launch this curriculum and look forward to seeing our 5th-8th graders flourish as confident, active learners this year! To learn more about what your child is studying, feel free to explore these family resources:
A big thank you to our ELA teachers for embracing this new curriculum and supports. As a district, we are eager to see how a consistent ELA curriculum from grades PK - 8 will enhance literacy skills for our students.
As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership.
With gratitude,
Ms. Corron
