LFHS SECOND SEMESTER UPDATES

Hello Lake Fenton Families,

I hope you all are enjoying a happy and healthy new year and are ready to make 2021 a year filled with hope and lots of learning. As we move into the second half of our school year, we have many important changes and upcoming events that will allow us to successfully finish our school year strong.

In December, we offered all parents an option to select their second semester learning modality for their child starting on Tuesday, January 19th. We have received those requests and have created our second semester programming to accommodate them. Student schedules are complete and can be found on our ParentVue and StudentVue platforms. You will also be receiving an email reminder of your learning platform selection today, but this newsletter includes many other important details as we head into 2021-- so please read on!

As you review class schedules, please understand that our counselors have worked diligently to provide all class schedules that accommodate our learning platforms and our classroom capacity -- class schedule changes for personal preference are NOT available at this time. Additionally, the only change in learning platform that we can accommodate at this time is to move to fully remote. We have worked hard to level all classes and offer everyone an opportunity to get back to learning in the modality of their choice. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at (810)591-9591 or your child's school counselor. Thank you for your support as we prepare to make 2021 a successful school year.

Have a great rest of your week Blue Devils!

LFHS SECOND SEMESTER UPDATES - WHAT I NEED TO KNOW

As we prepare for second semester, these are the platforms we are planning to provide and details on each. As a reminder, students will remain fully remote until January 19th, 2021, with no school on January 18th. Student schedules are now available on our ParentVue and StudentVue applications (see link below). On Tuesday, January 19th we will begin our second semester schedule that includes the following learning platforms and key requirements:

Learning Platforms:

  • Blended learning with social distancing and alternate remote learning days (M/W and T/TH)
  • Face to Face learning without guaranteed social distancing (M - TH)
  • Fully remote learning following our bell schedule from home

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Key Requirements:
  • All in-person attendance will require masks and will continue to follow safety protocols instituted first semester
  • Fridays will follow a HALF DAY synchronous schedule and allow for student intervention and support the second half of the day (See Friday Bell Schedule Below)
  • Our Monday through Thursday bell schedule will remain the same as first semester from 8:30-2:00PM with an A and B lunch schedule
  • Both lunches will take place in our commons and Media Center with assigned seating. This allows blended students the ability to socially distance, but does not guarantee social distance for face to face learners
  • Busses will run all routes regardless of East/West of US23. Busses will not be socially distanced but will require masks (See transportation update below)
  • All learning platform selections will continue for the duration of second semester -- families can choose to go fully remote for the remainder of the semester at any time. Please contact our office at (810)591-9591 to make any changes
  • Lockers are available for students requesting them on a first-come, first-serve basis (Complete the application below)
  • Classes may include a mix of remote learners, blended learners and face to face learners. If social distance cannot be guaranteed for our blended learners, they will be offered their second selection of either remote learning from an alternate location or face to face learning within the classroom
All entries into the building will continue to follow this protocol:
  1. Drivers will use the Athletic Wing Entrance to enter/leave the building
  2. Bussed students will use the Main Office Entrance to enter/leave the building
  3. Parent Drop-Off students will use the Band Entrance to enter/leave the building
Locker Sign-Ups
Please complete this form to request -- or deny -- a locker for 2nd Semester. Lockers will not be shared and should only be accessed briefly as needed to alleviate social gathering. They are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
